A delicatessen has discovered the perfect way to cut cheese, a method people have been doing wrong for years, they say.
Charcuterie boards are often the perfect way to enjoy your favorite fromage—whether it’s a trusty cheddar, a tender brisket, a tangy blue cheese, or a creamy camembert.
But what exactly is the perfect portion of cheese, what shape do you cut it into and how much cheese actually fits on a cracker?
Luckily, experts from American deli Boar’s Head have revealed how cheese lovers can best cut their favorite blocks.
Experts from one of the United States’ most popular delis, Boar’s Head, have revealed that many people cut cheese incorrectly when preparing it for a charcuterie board
They posted a message on their TikTok account, which has over 47,000 followers, showing how to cut different types of cheese in a more appropriate way when sharing a plate with others
The deli experts showed on their TikTok account, which has more than 47,000 followers, how to cut different types of cheese in a more convenient way when sharing a plate with others.
First, the experts discussed how best to cut cheddar. They said to do it in cubes.
While it may not be the most exotic variety in terms of flavor profile, this technique can also be applied to Red Leicester as its shape and consistency are similar to cheddar.
The delicatessen experts opted for a more continental cheese and cut a small piece of brie into pieces. According to them, the cheese should be cut into eight pieces as a wedge, just like a pizza.
They used a slightly more unconventional version of Parmigiano Reggiano – or Parmesan cheese – and crumbled the cheese into small pieces with a knife.
Parmesan is a hard cheese with a particularly salty taste, so it is best to use smaller quantities so that you do not have to cut large pieces.
When cutting into the final cheese of the video, the experts turned their attention to the popular Spanish cheese manchego, which is notorious for its black rind.
The cheese experts showed that Manchego should be cut into thin triangles so you can garnish it with your favorite chutney or fruit.
Viewers responded to the video and were impressed by the technique shown. After watching the clip, they felt like having a cheese platter. They said:

‘I really appreciate this post. I love making different cheese boards [but usually] ‘just cut and hope for the best’.
‘I enjoyed it immensely’.
