I visited the richest country in the world – here is what I could afford on a $10 budget

A man who visited the ‘richest country in the world’ has revealed what he could buy for ten dollars.

Eli Snyder, a travel vlogger from Kansas City, recently took a trip to Luxembourg – a European country considered the most prosperous place in the world, based on gross domestic product per capita.

As an experiment, he wanted to see what he could get for just 10 euros, which equates to just over $10, before documenting the process and sharing it on TikTok.

He went to a cafe in the capital, also called Luxembourg, and it turned out that the social media star could only buy two things on his limited budget: a croissant and an iced coffee.

As an experiment, he wanted to see what he could get for just 10 euros, which works out to just over $10, and he documented the process and shared it on TikTok.

He went to a cafe in the capital, also called Luxembourg, and it turned out that the social media star could only buy two things on his limited budget: a croissant and an iced coffee.

“This is the richest country in the world, and I’m going to show you what $10 will get you. Welcome to Luxembourg,” he said at the start of the video, which has now been viewed more than 295,000 times.

The ‘very expensive croissant’ cost him 3.45 euros, and the ‘regular iced coffee’ cost no less than 5.60 euros

Eli then decided to buy the ‘very expensive croissant’, which cost him €3.45, followed by a ‘regular iced coffee’, which cost a whopping €5.60.

For comparison, a medium iced coffee from Starbucks costs about $4.84 in New York City, while a medium iced coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts costs about $4.45.

The TikToker then decided to go to a local McDonald’s to see how much the stuff costs there.

He was shocked to discover that a Big Mac cost $12.60. In New York City, the same sandwich costs just $6.29.

On the plus side, he pointed out that all public transport in the country has been free since 2020, in an effort to “curb the car problem.”

‘In 2020, Luxembourg became the first country in the world to scrap fares for all public transport’ EuroNews Previously reported.

‘In 2020, Luxembourg had the highest car density in the EU: 696 per 1,000 inhabitants versus an average of 560.

While many people were baffled by the high prices in Luxembourg, others pointed out that they were not all that different from those in America.

‘As a result, the country suffered from bad traffic and high global warming emissions.’

‘For ten dollars I got a croissant and a coffee. That is it. Yes, Luxembourg is expensive,” Eli concluded in his video.

“But I certainly enjoyed filming this and I look forward to visiting again someday.”

While many people were baffled by the high prices in Luxembourg, others pointed out that they were not that different from U.S. out-of-pocket costs.

“Lol, in New York you can hardly get both coffee and a croissant in ten dollars,” one person wrote.

“I paid $6 for a croissant today in San Diego,” one person added. A third agreed: “New York, I’ll pay for $7 coffee before the tip.”

“That’s what it costs at a Starbucks here, dude,” read a fourth comment.

Someone else simply said, “Sounds like Manhattan.”
