A few travel pros have lifted the lid on what Las Vegas’ oldest hotel looks like, with rock-bottom prices and “delicious” shrimp cocktails as selling points.
YouTube stars and brothers Jacob and Lucas Cruikshank checked in at the Golden Gate Casino and Hotelwhich dates back to 1906 and is located on Sin City’s famous Freemont Street.
Of the hotel’s 122 rooms, 10 of them respond to history, with black and white photos of past celebrities lining the walls.
The website states: ‘These rooms welcomed farmers and railroad men, singers and starlets, gangsters, Central American vacationers and newlyweds.’
Rates at the hotel start from just $14.40 thanks to a summer sale, and the Cruikshank brothers said they paid $86 after tax, service charges and the resort fee were factored in.

Jacob points to a plaque on the wall that reads, “This here is one of the first ten rooms in all of Las Vegas.”
Once inside the room, the social media stars give viewers a tour. They emphasize that the room is quite large for the price
They say several parts of the room feel a little tired, with a cupboard ‘that smells old’ and a bathroom with tiles that ‘feel like they’re from the 1930s’
When they first arrive at the hotel, the Cruikshanks seem pleased with what they find.
However, Jacob picks up some strange smells in the lobby.
He notes, “I mean, it smells like cigarettes, but it doesn’t smell bad… it doesn’t seem smoky, there’s good ventilation.”
After what appears to be a seamless check-in process, the duo makes their way to their room in the oldest part of the hotel.
Jacob points to a plaque on the wall that reads, “This right here is one of the first ten rooms in all of Las Vegas.
“Built by farmer John F. Miller, this establishment opened in 1906 and has never closed.”

Jacob also gives free rein to his imagination and exclaims: ‘Ohnone of my first thoughts When I walked into this room it reminded me of a serial killer.
“I imagine this serial killer standing in that corner.”
In addition to the dated aesthetic, the Cruikshanks comment on the loud noise coming from outside.
They reveal that the woman at the check-in desk “pulled out a huge bag of earplugs” and handed them out, telling them that “it gets loud in here at night.”
The brothers headed out to explore other parts of the hotel, going to the casino and also visiting a rooftop restaurant and bar open to guests and part of the neighboring Circa Resort & Casino.

Summarizing their stay at the Golden Gate Casino and Hotel, the brothers say they wouldn’t stay there again because “it’s so loud you’ll be in a bad mood for the entire vacation.”
However, they point out that the hotel is ‘absolutely not dirty’, ‘dirty’ or ‘so run down’
They explain that a stay at the Golden Gate Casino and Hotel includes free glasses of bubbly and that Circa’s Saginaw’s Delicatessen is worth a visit because it served Las Vegas’ very first shrimp cocktail.
Jacob explains that the “delicious” shrimp cocktail was only 50 cents when it was introduced, but now comes to $13.
The brothers ate three of the seafood creations during their stay at the hotel.
When the siblings finally go back to their room at midnight, they say the music is still very loud.
After several hours of tossing and turning, Jacob says, “It’s five in the morning now and I think the music is louder than it has been all night.”
Lucas agrees and replies, “It sounds like there are two songs playing. It sounds so chaotic, this is the stuff that drives people crazy.”
