TikTok users are divided after a mom revealed her penchant for dressing her son in fancy clothes every day, saying it instills the wrong kind of values.
Geordian, from Texas, got to work TikTok to reveal she’s been inundated with questions from followers like, “Why do you make sure your baby is ready and dressed every day?”
Looking glamorous herself in a one-shoulder dress, she replied that she thinks “it’s important to instill from a young age that we stand up, dress up, take pride in what we wear and how we look.”
However, the 20-second clip infuriated some people, despite being viewed just under two million times and garnering 154,000 likes.
Several users echoed the baby influencer’s puzzling choice of clothing, with one user likening Geordian’s habits to a “throwback to 1958.”
The elegant mom opened her video by saying she was inundated with questions from followers like “Why do you make sure your baby is ready and dressed every day?”
Another TikTok user also found her choice of clothing excessive and expressed concern that this would in turn teach her son to “take care” what other people think’.
This sentiment was echoed in another report, in which one commenter wrote: “Please teach him that people who don’t do this also deserve respect and that we all do what works for us.”
But the mother defended herself after being caught red-handed, telling a dubious user, “You do it” after they remarked, “No.” I’m the same person in sweatpants as I am in a dress.’
One user didn’t hold back: “It’s not lazy not to dress like a debutante every day. It means you don’t value vanity over human worth. To grow up’.
And another joked, I’m not in this tax bracket lol,” to which another TikTok account replied, “Dude same thing. I look like Adam Sandler most days.”
In another video, the TikToker can be seen in a gorgeous sage green ball gown holding her baby casually wearing a tuxedo on a regular Friday
But some defended Geordian, pointing out, “When you look better, you feel better.”
One of them reaffirmed that the influencer’s choices were not unusual. One wrote: ‘My mother swears getting a baby up and dressed for the day helps establish routine and days from nights’.
Geordian gained more support when another mom praised her non-judgmental nature, saying, “Why do people get annoyed? You don’t force anyone to do that! I do the same with my child, because it’s important to be proud of yourself.’
However, this didn’t stop others from asking her, “Is this a normal day or are you going to a wedding?”
This prompted another TikTok account to say, “I get up and proudly look like I just rolled out of bed all day.”
Another replied, “First child huh?” prompting Geordian to claim, “I feel like I’ll be with all of them lol,” though the replies were skeptical.
This comes after a TikToker was shamed for refusing to shave her belly hair.
TikTok users were overwhelmingly negative about Geordian’s choices, with the mother dressing her young son in formal clothes every day, regardless of the day’s schedule.
Body-positive influencer Angelica encourages women to embrace their body hair despite their body hair constantly criticized by men for her decision.
A prospective date told her that in order to be considered dateable, she had to shave her belly.
In a video, Angelica revealed two critical comments she’d received about her body hair: “You should shave your stomach for summer” and “I’d only date you if you got rid of that belly hair.”
In response, she wrote, “Um no, I like it,” while showing off her belly in a coral crop top and low-rise sweatpants.
The influencer, who focuses on self-care and body positivity, explains in the caption that she previously shaved her belly hair, but immediately regretted it.
