I commute five hours from Germany to London for work every week… here is why I don’t want to live in the UK

A man who commutes from Germany to London for work has revealed why he doesn’t want to live in Britain.

Seb, who regularly shares his work journey from Germany to Britain on TikTok, has left people stunned by his five-hour international commute.

The content creator often documents his journey, which includes one flight and four trains, and often tries to beat his fastest time upon returning home.

Many of his followers are confused as to why he doesn’t live in London full-time and save himself not only five hours but also money on plane tickets.

But Seb has revealed his reasons are not just financial.

Seb (pictured), who spends most of his time in Hamburg, regularly documents his journey from Canary Wharf to Hamburg, trying to beat his record time of four hours and 57 minutes

When asked by several curious social media users, the super commuter was willing to make the long journey for love.

From his comments it appears that Seb lives in Hamburg to be with his partner.

Describing his journey from the office at 5pm, Seb explains that he starts his journey from Canary Wharf with two trains and arrives at Heathrow an hour later.

Arriving just over an hour before his plane was due to depart, Seb joked: “Let’s hope [I] through security, get some food, and get on my flight on time.”

With a meal from Pret in hand, the super commuter was happy to discover he had secured an aisle seat as he boarded his flight to Hamburg in his latest video.

“Back on European soil in Deutschland,” he said proudly when he arrived in Hamburg.

The commute wasn’t all smooth sailing, however, as Seb had to quickly run between his third and fourth trains to get home.

Arriving home at 11:04 p.m., the Hamburg resident could boast of his travel time of five hours and three minutes for the day – just a few minutes short of his record of four hours and 57 minutes.

Fortunately for Seb, he doesn’t have to travel ten hours a day five times a week.

According to the content creator, he stays in London once a month for a period of four days – from Monday to Thursday.

But several viewers were still baffled by his long journey to work, with one even describing it as a ‘pilgrimage’.

“Sir, save yourself this hassle and just go to London omg!?” said one shocked viewer.

A second wrote: ‘Not even London airport? Heathrow?’

Another joked: ‘Listen, next time you can stay with me in Canary Wharf.’

One user asked: ‘Isn’t it faster to take Eurostar?’

It takes me six times a week to travel from Norwich to Edinburgh for my commute.’

“I’ve been traveling from Germany to London for work for the past two years because it was cheaper than living there,” one viewer added.

“I’d need at least 250,000 a year,” said another.
