Recently, the 29-year-old took to the video-sharing platform to explain her how to define romantic phases through a PowerPoint
She broke the timeline into categories: the talking stage, dating, and then an established, committed relationship
First, Charlotte showed a piece of paper that broke the dating stages.
“If you’re actively going on a date with someone, that’s dating. It doesn’t mean boyfriend/girlfriend,” she said before showing a more organized and electronic version of the chart on her laptop.
She divided the timeline into categories: the talking stage, dating, and then an established, committed relationship.
The dating expert explained that you and your partner are boyfriend/girlfriend once you’ve had the “define the relationship conversation.”
“If you’re actively dating and dating someone, you’re not in a relationship, you’re not a boyfriend/girlfriend,” she added.
Charlotte then presented synonyms for words to use once you’ve had the conversation, including “in a relationship,” “together,” and “partner.”
Under the “talking” part of her card, she described it as, “The time frame before the first date happened.” If [you] meet on [dating] apps, communication is only possible via SMS.’
She explained that “talk” is used to categorize the time leading up to the first date.
Under the heading of “dating,” Charlotte explained that this stage was divided into three subcategories: attraction (defined as one to three dates), compatibility (which includes three or more dates), and the right fit (which is between “six to 30 weeks” out dates).

Another person added, “Completely agree with you and he’s just complicating things. I only have the energy to talk or date one person, so as soon as we’re talking.”
“Thank you, thank you,” someone else wrote.
‘Thank you!! I’m tired of people saying they haven’t been in a relationship for years. It minimizes the months spent dating one person or another,” said one user.
And while many social media users were on Charlotte’s side, others noticed she was wrong and agreed with Montaine.

One person wrote, “So angry because I was so wrong. Dating someone implies a longer term i.e boyfriend/girlfriend. It’s not the first few dates where you just meet.”
Another user added, “You’re literally wrong. I’m sorry to say it, but when you say, “I’m dating someone,” I fully expect you two to be in a committed relationship.”
“Dating is boyfriend/girlfriend,” someone else wrote.
“This is crazy because I literally thought everyone thought dating is the same as being in a relationship lol what,” one social media user added.
