Hugh Jackman celebrates as Australia’s cricket team win World Test Championship after beating India by 209 runs for the Ashes
Hugh Jackman celebrated Australia’s victory at the World Test Championship on Sunday.
The actor, 54, shared a post on Instagram showing his support for the cricket team after they beat India by 209 runs.
‘Come on Aussie!!!!! Sensational victory to cap off an incredible year in Test cricket,” Hugh wrote.
‘Congratulations guys!!! You are on top of the world! Now The Axis. Will be there to cheer you on.’
Australia beat India by 209 runs on Sunday – a result that saw their captain Pat Cummins insist ‘We’re ready to go’ ahead of Friday’s first Test at Edgbaston.

India had started the final day at 164 for three with Virat Kohli in the crease encouraging dreams in another large crowd of a world record chase of 444.
But a ruthless Australian performance meant Cummins held up the ICC mace before most of the spectators at The Oval had finished their lunch.
India’s last seven fell for 54, with four wickets to off-spinner Nathan Lyon and three to Scott Boland, who started the slide by having Kohli caught in spectacular fashion at second slip by Steve Smith for 49, and will be hard to get away to be against England.
“Scotty Boland remains my favorite player,” said Cummins. “He was our best bowler all game. He didn’t make many runs and always looked menacing. I’m sure he will play a big role in the Ashes.’
The main decision for the Australians to make is which of Boland, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood – who was rested for this game but available for selection at Edgbaston – will miss.
Boland now has 33 Test wickets at just 14 apiece, and his nagging line and length seem tailor-made for English conditions.

Starc, meanwhile, went for 148 runs from 27.4 overs even while taking four wickets, losing the new ball to Boland in India’s second innings.
“It was a lot of fun,” Boland said. “There was a little bit of bounce and we tried to capitalize on that. It felt pretty good to get Kohli out.”
With centuries in the first innings for Smith and Travis Head, Australia are looking good – worryingly so, from an English perspective.
Australia will also know there is room for improvement, with Cummins admitting ‘sometimes we weren’t at our best’.
