How to beat the Sludge Like boss in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Beating the Sludge like is part of exploring Zora’s Domain and “Clues to the Sky” quest in the main story of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

This is all part of the long ‘Sidon of the Zora’ quest sequence, which will eventually take you all the way to the Water Temple.

Beating the sludge As midboss

Once you discover the ‘watery bridge’ and find the Land of the Sky Fish and solve the puzzle, return to Sidon at Mipha’s Court to start a battle against the Sludge Like.

This boss is similar to other enemies you may have seen in Hyrule, and it works the same way, but with a muddy twist. Fortunately, Sidon will be here to help. Talk to Sidon during the battle to drench your attacks with water and shoot a water projectile forward. Hit the Sludge Like with the water to wash it off so you can attack it.

If you are further away, he will spit projectiles at you. If he’s close, he’ll try to bite you by stealing your equipped weapon and dealing some damage.

You want to get close to it and run away from it when it comes to bite you. When he misses, his uvula-tongue dongle sticks out. Hit it with an arrow, polearm, or whatever weapon it can reach to stun it. Once he’s stunned, unleash a wave of attacks until he recovers. Repeat these steps until it is dead.

After it dies, a short cutscene plays and you can claim a (decayed) Royal Claymore from the chest that emerged from the beast’s body.

Sidon will run to get to the light in the lake and you must follow him up the steps of Mipha’s Court. You can jump from the stairs directly to the lake and slide down to meet Sidon. It opens a doorway to the next area, the Ancient Zora Waterworks, where you can jump in when you’re ready.

While the next area gives you the tools to complete the puzzles, they’re made easier with bomb flowers, if you have them. Feel free to collect some before entering if you want an easier time.
