If Gordon Ramsay as he celebrated his wife Tana’s 52nd birthday, fans were in awe of the mother-of-six’s age-defying looks.

The author has an impressive fitness routine that she has followed to ‘have energy at 80’, running everything from marathons to Ironmans.

But despite being a food writer, there’s no strict diet – and when it comes to skincare, she rarely changes products, sticking to well-loved staples, some of which are as cheap as £5.

Tana – who gave birth to her fifth child at the age of 44 and her sixth at the age of 49 – said it became easier for her to fit training into everyday life as she got older.

“You have more time to spend on training,” she told Lorraine. ‘On the weekends I can get lost and fill my time with cycling, swimming or running.’

In some cases, she has even used training as a way to bond with her chef husband.

“It’s crazy but wonderful,” she said Women’s health earlier this year when we discussed triathlon training for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

‘I was asked by Gordon to join in and I thought, “What better way to pass the time than being crazy in the freezing cold.” We do odd bits of training together.

‘You can get on your bike for four hours, stop, have lunch and get on again. It’s not like running where you cramp up and feel really uncomfortable. It is also very social.

‘Triathlon is seen as a dominant male sport, but more and more women are participating.’

In 2018, she also revealed that the couple enjoy taking long bike rides together on Sundays, covering up to 60 miles at a time across the Surrey hills.

Tana has also spoken in the past about enjoying runs on Wimbledon Common with the family dogs, telling the Daily Mail that it is a time for emotional decompression.

‘If you’re running, with your music on, you can cry. You can shout.

‘That’s important. You can’t hold it in because it will haunt you if you don’t deal with it. That causes problems in the long term.’

Sporty Tana also revealed that she enjoys doing running man exercises with weights, basic squats, squat holds, medicine ball twists and triceps dips.

Food is, perhaps unsurprisingly, important in the Ramsay household, but Tana insists there is ‘a good balance’.

“I’ve never been obsessed with always having perfect food for the kids,” she has said in the past.

“I never watched over them at parties, I never said, ‘Don’t eat this.’ I didn’t want to be a helicopter mom hovering above them forever.

‘We have chocolate in the fridge, but our meals are usually healthy. That’s how it should be.’

Also refreshing is that there is no special “training diet” as she prepares for triathlons and other athletic endeavors.

When it comes to her dewy complexion and youthful facial features, Tana has been open about prioritizing skin protection — like she and her husband “used to bake” in the sun.

‘Now I have melasma [a form of pigmentation that typically develops on the face]. “I’ll never forget going into a pharmacy and asking the woman behind the counter what the spots on my face were,” she said The times.

These days, Tana is vigilant when it comes to topping up on SPF and never leaves the house without her Klira The Dayscript cream, which retails for £79.

Instead, to achieve a golden glow, she enjoys gradual tanning creams that you can buy on the high street – such as Dove’s ‘summer revived’ range, available for just £5 at Boots.

‘Especially as you get older. The skin on your legs isn’t what it used to be, and this just adds a subtle, flattering tone,” Tana added.

‘Using a broad-spectrum SPF daily is the secret to flawless skin like Tana Ramsay’s,’ says Harley Street doctor Hasaneen Al Janabi of Dr. Hass Clinic.

‘This is due to the fact that prevention is infinitely easier than trying to reverse the signs of sun damage such as pigmentation and premature aging.

“So I have no doubt that she has prioritized this over the years, not just during the holidays, but every day as part of her daily skincare routine.”

‘Thanks to this, her skin shows no obvious signs of pigmentation and premature aging.’

‘At 52, Tana Ramsay’s flawless skin isn’t just down to good genetics and drinking 2.5 liters of water. She has been very open about her battle with melasma after years of sunbathing,” says Sana Khan, aesthetic doctor and founder of Avicenna Wellbeing in Marylebone.

‘As a practitioner, I am convinced that she uses medical grade skin care that targets the melasma and suppresses the melanocytes. [cells producing the pigment].

‘This is not an overnight peeling treatment that will miraculously remove the ‘pigment layer’. Long-term management and approach is needed to control this under the guidance of a skin specialist.’
