Houston’s NCAA volleyball tournament got off to a winning start Friday night, and a wild fourth-set play certainly helped their efforts against South Dakota.

With Houston leading the set 5-1, their opponents appeared to have won a point when the Cougars hit the ball past the field of play.

It was then that Kate Georgiades did her life’s work.

The libero reached for the ball with her feet in the air to make a miraculous return of the ball, going through a table while keeping the play alive.

As the play progressed, Georgiades managed to get back into position to help his team as they recovered from the near miss of the point.

Georgiades looked almost amused after hitting the goofy shot for her team.

After more than 40 seconds of recovery, a Houston player near the front of the net was able to end the point with a defensive touch over the net.

Cougars players surrounded Georgiades at the end of the point, when they realized what an incredible save their save had been.

However, the rest of the set actually went South Dakota’s way as they won 25-23 and forced a fifth and final set.

Houston rallied to win the final and deciding fifth set.

Now they will turn their attention to Auburn, who they will play on Saturday night.
