Houston Texans to sign wide receiver and Super Bowl champion Robert Woods to a two-year $15.24M deal

The Houston Texans will sign veteran wide receiver and Super Bowl champion Robert Woods to a two-year, $15.24 million contract, following one year with the Titans

The Houston Texans are signing former Tennessee Titans and LA Rams wide receiver Robert Woods, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Woods will sign a two-year deal worth $15.25 million with $10 million fully guaranteed.

You can earn a maximum value of $17 million due to the incentives in the deal.

Last season, Woods caught 53 passes for 527 yards and two touchdowns. He was released earlier this offseason to save cap space for the Titans.

Robert Woods is set to sign a two-year, $15.25 million deal with the Houston Texans

Last season Woods caught 53 passes for 527 yards and two touchdowns for the Titans.

Woods enjoyed his best seasons in 2018-19 and 2019-20 when he posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with the Rams.

His numbers have dwindled every season since, and he hasn’t passed 600 yards in either of the past two seasons.

Woods has also been known to suffer from injuries over the years and was coming off a torn ACL before joining the Titans this season.

He should provide a consistent veteran target for whatever quarterback the Texans take this year, with the second overall pick in the NFL draft.

The team is also rumored to be interested in signing former 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who would provide a veteran presence to allow a young quarterback more time to adjust to being in the NFL.

Woods will likely replace No. 1 wide receiver Brandin Cooks, who is expected to leave the team.

Woods will likely replace disgruntled star Brandin Cooks as the number one target in the Texans’ passing game.

Cooks requested a trade during the season and was given a game bye after he became angry that he was not moved by the NFL’s trade deadline.

Earlier this offseason, he reiterated his desire to leave the franchise and is expected to be with a new organization before the end of the summer.

Cooks also sent a congratulatory tweet to Woods, who he played with in Los Angeles, saying: “Love to see my brother @robertwoods going to be great.” Go crazy bro.
