A man sexually assaulted an elderly Alzheimer’s patient after knocking on her door and taking advantage of her confusion.
No one would have even known about the horrific abuse he subjected her to had her family not installed hidden cameras in her home in Pacoima, Los Angeles.
The 81-year-old woman let the portly, bearded man in around 6:45 p.m. on Monday, carrying a backpack that he placed next to her walker.
She shuffled slowly around the room, her condition leading her to believe she recognized him and was comfortable with his presence.

The man hugged her, grabbed her back and leaned his face close to hers – not knowing that police would soon see all the disturbing images.
Police called what he did after an attempted rape and launched a manhunt that eventually tracked him down in the same area on Friday.
He is accused of forcing her to perform sex acts on him and is expected to be charged with sexual assault.
“The video shows him doing things that I wouldn’t wish on anyone,” her son-in-law said Fox 11.
‘He knocked on the door. She is 81 years old. She opened the door and he let himself in. He starts looking around to make sure no one is in the house. He starts hugging her and tries to kiss her.
“She doesn’t really fight it, because what can 81-year-old Alzheimer’s patients do?”

The son-in-law said she had no memory of the abuse because of her condition, and they wouldn’t have known without the hidden cameras.
The camera system, which they hid to prevent her from turning it off after forgetting what it was for, set up alerts telling her daughter she was up earlier than usual.
She played the tape and was shocked by what she saw.
“There are a lot of elderly people in the community. This man needs to get off the street,” the son-in-law said.
“It’s probably not the first time and it won’t be the last time he does this, or will do it.”
