Home and Away’s Sophie Dillman reveals surprising behind-the-scenes secrets about the beloved soap
Former Home and Away star Sophie Dillman has revealed some surprising behind-the-scenes secrets about the beloved soap.
The 29-year-old blonde, who played Ziggy on the Channel Seven series for six years, says many of her former co-stars are secretly covered in tattoos and ‘fake’ their kisses.
Sophie also said that the producers of the long-running hit use “TV magic” to create the show’s setting, Summer Bay, to make it look like a small village.
“It seems a walk from the caravan park to the beach is only five minutes and the Farm Houses are just around the corner,” Sophie wrote in Yahoo lifestyle on Thursday.
But in fact, Sophie revealed, the locations of the show’s landmarks, such as the Farm House, the Surf Club, the beach and the caravan park, are hours apart.

Beloved by fans for its “hot” scenes of intimate kissing, Sophie says the passion in Home and Away – pictured – is all acting, including alleged “French kiss” scenes
Loved by fans for the “hot” scenes of intimate kissing, Sophie says acting is her passion.
“I hate to say it, but a lot of the kisses you see on screen aren’t quite real,” she said.
“Most actors choose to use a ‘stage kiss’ to keep some distance from their co-stars,” Sophie continued.
“Essentially, the French part of the french kiss has been cut out, if you know what I mean.”
Famously, Sophie “dated” her real-life partner on the show, actor Patrick O’Connor, who played on-screen boyfriend Dean.
“Luckily Dean and Ziggy didn’t have to pretend much on set ;),” she added.
Meanwhile, Sophie sang the praises of the Home and Away crew, including the production design team and makeup artists.
Sophie said the make-up artists not only make the actors look “perfect” for roles on set, but also spend a lot of time covering up the many cast members who are heavily tattooed, a fact most fans would never know.
Patrick and Sophie left Home and Away earlier this year. In March, Sophie spoke about her health battle with endometriosis.

In an Instagram post, she’s been in so much pain lately that she couldn’t get up off the floor.
She also acknowledged that her appearance can change from day to day due to the bloating and discomfort associated with the condition.
Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue similar to the tissue that lines the uterus grows outside the uterus in places where it does not belong.
Sarah made her debut as Ziggy in Home and Away during the 2017 season. Meanwhile, Patrick’s character, Dean made his first appearance six months later.
