Holly Willoughby is snubbed from National Television Awards shortlist in favour of Alison Hammond – while This Morning is nominated despite Phillip Schofield affair scandal

Holly Willoughby has been suspended from the TV presenter category for the upcoming National Television Awards following the uproar over her co-star Phillip Schofield’s affair with a colleague.

Phillip, 61, resigned from ITV and was sacked by his talent agency YMU in May after admitting to having an ‘ill-advised but not illegal’ relationship with a younger male colleague on This Morning.

The broadcasting duo were longlisted for the Best TV Presenter award along with fellow This Morning presenters Alison Hammond, Dermot O’Leary, Rylan Clark and Martin Lewis, but only Alison and Martin made the cut.

However, despite the affair scandal, This Morning has been nominated for best daytime show.

Holly, who presented alongside Phillip from 2009, has continued to present the show with a range of co-stars, while MPs have called on ITV bosses to address claims of behind-the-scenes toxicity and bullying.

MailOnline has reached out to a Holly representative for comment.

The show will defend its title in the daytime category against The Chase, Loose Women and The Repair Shop.

Phillip and Holly were longlisted for the Best TV Presenter award along with fellow This Morning presenters Alison Hammond, Dermot O’Leary, Rylan Clark and Martin Lewis, but only Alison and Martin made the cut.

They will face Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, who accepted the award for the 21st year in a row at last year’s ceremony, as well as The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman and The Chase’s Bradley Walsh.

Dame Deborah James and Paul O’Grady have been recognized posthumously in the nominations, with Dame Deborah named in the written documentary category, for Bowelbabe In Her Own Words.

Dame Deborah founded the cancer research fund Bowelbabe and died of colon cancer last year at the age of 40.

Paul’s For The Love Of Dogs was listed in the factual entertainment category earlier this year after the death of the TV presenter and comedian earlier this year.

It will compete against Clarkson’s Farm, Sort Your Life Out and The Martin Lewis Money Show Live.
