Hillary Clinton is dusting off Bills playbook to run in

Hillary Clinton could be preparing to run for president in 2024 if “moderate,” a former adviser to her husband said on Sunday

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s criticism of “open borders” could be a sign that she is looking for a third presidential campaign, a former adviser to her husband speculated on Sunday.

Dick Morris, who had worked for Bill Clinton and now advises Donald Trump, believes Clinton sees an opening for a “moderate” candidate for 2024.

“Hillary is dusting off Bill’s script I wrote for him and applying it myself this year,” Morris told WABC radio host John Catsimatidis of Cat’s Roundtable.

He cited the recent comments by both Clintons suggesting that they are aware of the worsening border crisis, taking a different tone from the progressives in their party.

Clinton recently had an MSNBC interview in which she condemned Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis for sending migrants from the southern border to Martha’s Vineyard, but admitted that “no one wants open borders.”

Morris also referred to Bill Clinton’s interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria last week, when he said “there is a limit” to how many migrants the US can take in before they cause “serious disruption” to society.

“I’m seeing more and more signs of Hillary running away. Bill… said there was a limit to the number of people the US can take in. And Hilary said a week ago… that Americans don’t believe in open borders,” Morris said on Sunday.

“These are all signs that she’s going to be the moderate presidential candidate.”

He quoted her comments saying that Americans don’t want an “open border,” which Republicans have accused President Joe Biden of creating

He predicted she would wait until after the midterm elections — where Republicans are expected to take back the House of Representatives, while the fate of the current 50-50 Senate is uncertain.

“She’s going to say after the election, ‘Look, the left has cost us the House and the Senate. If we stick with a left-wing candidate in 2024, we’ll lose the White House. I’m the only one who will tack to the center and give us a chance at victory,” Morris said.

“I know that’s her strategy because it’s the strategy I designed for Bill Clinton in 1992.”

Clinton herself vowed never to run for president again when asked last month, after losing the 2008 Democratic primary to Barack Obama and the 2016 general election to Donald Trump — but not before she became the first woman to hold a major party ticket. led.

“No, no,” the former First Lady said when CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell asked her about her future prospects for the White House.

“But I’m going to do everything I can to make sure we have a president who respects our democracy and the rule of law and upholds our institutions.”

And while Clinton may not make herself a choice for voters in the next presidential cycle, a recent poll indicates that Democratic voters do want someone new in the White House.

The ABC News poll, released last Sunday, suggests that a majority of Biden’s base would not consider the president their first choice.

Fifty-six percent of Democrats and left-wing Independents said they wanted someone other than Biden to be the 2024 nominee.

Only 35 percent of the group were in favor of his candidacy.
