Harry Styles fans describe ‘absolute hell’ after being stranded and forced to sleep poorly due to ‘transport issues’ as 100,000 tried to get home from sold-out final concert of tour in Italy

Fans of Harry Styles have described their traumatic experience of being stranded and then forced to sleep due to alleged transportation issues after 100,000 people tried to get home from the sold-out final concert of the singer’s Italy tour.

The last Love On Tour show in Reggio Emilia, Italy, on July 22 was the last of 169 shows Harry Styles played over the past two years.

Following the conclusion of the 29-year-old’s tour at the RCF Arena Campovolo, many fans were left furious after reportedly being unable to find a way home due to public transport problems.

With about 103,000 in attendance, fans claimed trains were delayed for hours or prices had risen excessively for the few extra trains available for the show, stranding many fans and forcing them to sleep in the arena.

MailOnline understands that special trains have been arranged between nearby Bologna and the concert city of Reggio Emilia, for which tickets for the show were available.

But footage shows scenes of confusion outside the venue – and people sleeping in the open air and on basketball courts.

Groups of people were seen lying in groups on a basketball court with makeshift pillows and blankets

Footage shared on social media begins with Styles singing Sign of the Times as red fireworks shoot into the sky and the crowd erupts in cheers.

But then the clip cuts to thousands of fans flocking to the exit at the end of the concert, before showing groups of people lying on the grass wrapped in foil blankets while others are seemingly forced to sleep rough.

A fan took to social media a day after the concert, on July 23, to share footage of the scenes, writing: ‘Stranded in Reggio Emilia after the final show’.

She added: “There were trains and buses, but not enough for everyone. There were some ‘special trains’, but they were delayed (plus an hour) and quite expensive.

“So people had to wait for the trains that ran in the morning, the first one was around 4:30 in the morning, but again, it was too busy.

‘The city of the location has literally 160,000 inhabitants and the concert had more than 100,000 visitors.

“Leaving Campovolo after the last show was traumatizing.”

Another Harry Styles fan who left the concert elated to be confronted by the lack of transportation is Francesca Dall’Ara, 23, who said ‘it was really insane’.

She attended the show with five of her friends and they had rented accommodation in nearby Bologna to sleep, but “the problem was getting away from Reggio.”

Fortunately, another concertgoer decided to call a bus rental agency and promptly booked two large ones to take about 130 fans from Reggio Emilia to Bologna – a journey that took twice as long due to heavy traffic leaving the concert venue.

As Francesca made it to her Airbnb and had a place to sleep, she is outraged by the lack of transportation for fans after the concert, forcing them to sleep outside.

She told MailOnline, “I personally called Live Nation Italy who was supposed to organize these trains (from Reggio), but they never answered me and my friends. We also sent a lot of e-mails, but no one ever replied.’

“I am very sad and disappointed with how the organization ignored an issue that was presented to them many, many times, and I am heartbroken that many people had to live that nightmare after one of the greatest concerts ever,” the 23-year-old added.

Someone wrote: ‘Finally someone is talking about it. We had to walk an hour away to another town to try and find a taxi and there were none. It was absolute hell.’

Another said: ‘It took us four hours to get to our hotel after the show (in Reggio).’

A third commented, “Slept on the grass until 3:30 a.m. when the sprinklers (went) and then went to the basketball court until we could practice at 6:40 a.m..”

A fourth added: ‘It was terrible. I panicked with 20% battery.”

Styles has been on tour since November 2021, where he has performed a whopping 169 shows for millions of fans, traveling around the world.

He is now thought to be taking a break after the end of Love On Tour.
