Harry and Sandra Redknapp heartbreakingly reveal they suffered a miscarriage over 50 years ago

Harry Redknapp and his wife Sandra have revealed they tragically lost a child in 1969, with the former hairdresser miscarrying while she was 12 weeks pregnant.

The former footballer, 75, and his wife of 55 have been candid about the horrific experience in their new book – When Harry Met Sally.

And admitted that they “didn’t know how to handle it and cried a lot,” Sandra, 76, recalled the experience, which happened as she walked home through the snow one winter night, losing feeling in her feet and hands. .

Harry and Sandra are parents to two sons, Jamie and Mark, and also share eight grandchildren.

But with a miscarriage during Sandra’s first pregnancy in 1969, the couple revealed the tragic time for the first time in their new book.

Sandra remembers the day and writes in the book how one winter day she finished work and couldn’t catch a bus home – leaving her to walk home to Barking in the cold night.

And as she walked in deep snow, the then hairdresser lost all feeling in her feet and arms and felt unwell, explaining that she “knew” right away that she was having a miscarriage.

Sandra explained her choice to talk about it for the first time in the new book: OKAY! Magazine that she hoped to help people with the story.

“Harry was playing football when I miscarried. Not many people know about it. I thought to myself, “Have I opened up too much?” but if it helps someone, that’s all that matters,” she said.

The grandmother also admitted that she “cryed a lot” until three months later she became pregnant with son Mark, now 52.

She told the publication: “It’s nice to know you’re not alone. Nobody talked about it then and I don’t think anyone knew how to deal with it, especially men.’

When they completed the brood, they welcomed the youngest son Jamie four years after the ordeal.

Sandra and Harry’s relationship came into the limelight in 2018, during the latter’s stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here – where he spoke with such sweet candor about the love he has for his wife.
