Bizarre moment a wanted man and his passenger fell asleep at a set of Hallam traffic lights for 20 minutes – but he’s still on the run

A wanted man remains on the run despite being found asleep behind the wheel of a luxury car when he stopped at a traffic light.

Motorists alerted police to the bizarre sight after the man stopped the car at a red light at an intersection on Belgrave-Hallam Road, Hallam, in Melbourne’s south-east, about 2pm on Monday.

Shocking footage captured the moment the man stopped at a traffic light and took a nap with another male passenger in the black Mercedes sedan.

Drivers in the area began filming and taking photos of their strange encounter with the man, who is wanted by authorities for allegedly evading police previously.

Police said paramedics tried to wake the diver before officers told the man to get out of the vehicle when he woke up a short time later.

A heavily tattooed male officer then yelled at the man not to drive away as he began to drive the car forward.

“Don’t…get out of the car, get out of the car now!” the officer shouted.

The driver ignored his instructions and, with the intersection clear of police vehicles and oncoming traffic, stepped on the accelerator and sped away.
