Wearing retro aviator glasses and a white cardigan, Paltrow took a selfie video to address the uproar, telling fans that her various health regimens stem from her chronic struggles with long-term COVID.

The lifestyle expert also shared that her choices are “not intended as advice to anyone else,” stating, “I eat a LOT more than bone broth and vegetables.”

“I eat full meals,” Paltrow said. “And I also get a lot of days to eat whatever I want, and eat chips and whatever.”

The mogul’s confessional began with her flashing a tired smile for the camera and telling her 8.3 million followers: “Hi, okay, let’s jump into this…”

“I think it’s important to let everyone know that I was doing a podcast with my doctor. [Dr. Will Cole]. So this is a person that I’ve been working with for over two years, um… to deal with some chronic stuff.

Gwyneth went on to say that she has had COVID for a long time and described how the condition ‘shows up’ for her, explaining: ‘The way it shows up for me is very high levels of inflammation over time.

‘So I’ve been working with Dr. Cole to really focus on foods that are non-inflammatory, right? So lots of vegetables, cooked vegetables, all kinds of protein, healthy carbs to really reduce inflammation and it’s worked really well.

The Shakespeare in Love star went on to say that her vigilante lifestyle is based on “extensive medical results and tests”, explaining that it is tailored to her needs and not for anyone else.

‘This was a transparent look into a conversation between me and my doctor. It is not meant to be advice to anyone else, it really is what has worked for me and it has been very powerful and very positive…’

Gwyneth responded to critics who claimed she was “starving herself”, saying: “This is not to say that I eat this way all day every day.” And by the way, I eat a lot more than bone broth and vegetables.

After naming chips an occasional indulgence, the Shallow Hal star said: “My bottom line is to try to be healthy and eat foods that really calm down the system.” So, um… I hope that helps.

Paltrow’s lengthy explanation comes on the heels of her viral interview clip, which showed her hooked up to an IV as she raised the hairs on the back of the social media collective’s neck as she went over her grueling wellness routine.

‘I have dinner early at night,’ he began. ‘I do a good intermittent fasting. I usually eat something around 12 and in the morning I have things that don’t spike my blood sugar so I have coffee.

But I really like soup for lunch. I have bone broth for lunch many days. Try to get an hour of movement so I’ll take a walk or do Pilates or do my Tracy Anderson.

‘And then I dry brush and go in the sauna. So I do my infrared sauna for 30 minutes and then for dinner I try to eat paleo, meaning lots of vegetables. It is very important for me to support my detoxification.’

The clip was met with fierce backlash, prompting a shocked viewer to ask: ‘Is starvation welfare?’

“I feel dizzy just hearing this,” another social media user wrote, while a third simply said, “I don’t identify with anything in this video.”

The criticism didn’t stop there, however, as professional dietitians chimed in with their own thoughts, too.
