Gucci employee-turned-influencer makes massive gaffe about her corporate life

A Gucci employee turned influencer has been criticized after making a blatant gaffe in an Instagram post.

Ella McFadin told her 241,000 followers that she planned to use her first job at the fashion brand to “climb the last column of the company,” rather than climb a ladder, in a caption to the story.

Writing alongside a photo of herself sipping a dry gin martini at the bar, McFadin wrote: “I worked at Gucci headquarters as my first job out of college and my plan was to climb the latter and into the to remain fashionable.’

“I couldn’t be more grateful that I don’t,” she continued in a second caption on the same photo.

‘I was making a very small salary and working with some nasty older women!

“But I learned a lot, so I’m grateful for the experience I had and it definitely taught me a great work ethic.”

People online were quick to point out the error. One person wrote: ‘Spelling isn’t always an indicator of intelligence, but sometimes it is lol.’

“How did these people get into college, let alone graduate and get a job?” another person smoked.

‘I’m quite forgiving when it comes to grammatical errors, but it’s definitely an indication of carelessness and if social media is your job, you shouldn’t be careless!’ one person agreed.

Another commenter started a longer story: ‘For me it’s more the unpleasant combination of 1. Not being good at spelling COMBINED with 2. The hubris and lack of self-awareness of not being good at spelling to the point that you no more spell checking or guessing.

‘This isn’t necessarily about spelling either. She uses the completely wrong word. If you know what the latter means, you know it makes no sense in this context.

“Also, influencers who talk about their work ethics but have no proof to read their posts for ‘work’ are comical.”
