A group of teenagers painted their faces black and dressed up as prisoners for Halloween as onlookers warned their futures would be ruined by the alleged hate crime.

The youths were spotted in a video in a Cedar City, Utah, Walmart on Oct. 31.

Three teenage boys in the group of about eight were dressed as prisoners and one teenage girl was dressed as a police officer.

The video went viral Monday night as onlookers were outraged to see the dizzying teens ignoring their actions.

“You’re not going to college,” the person behind the camera said. “You don’t get scholarships because this is a hate crime.”

One of the boys said, “We all dropped out of high school, it’s okay.” The group just laughed before walking away.

The viral video gained traction overnight with onlookers disappointed with parents for letting their kids leave their homes wearing the chosen costumes.

“Their parents really let them go out like this,” one person wrote on Reddit. “The apple doesn’t fall from the tree.”

Another added: “I imagine their parents helped with the costumes, told them they looked cute, took pictures before they left the house, and told them to have fun and drive safely.”

“What worries me even more are the parents. It’s impossible that they didn’t see them walking out the door like that. They probably thought it was okay.’

Many commentators said the teens unknowingly ruined their lives.

“They think it’s so funny, but that joke has ruined their whole life of chances,” one commented. “They’ll regret it.”

“The sad thing is they think it’s okay,” another wrote.

Others, meanwhile, filmed their reactions to the video on TikTok, saying they weren’t “surprised” these days.

“The sad thing is that I feel extremely numb to this,” one woman said in a video about the incident. ‘I don’t feel shocked. I’m not surprised.’

“The fact that someone, or a group of people, thought this was perfectly fine to do this in 2022,” one woman added.

“The fact that they collectively decided to wear those costumes to the point where they went out, bought those costumes, came home, put on the costumes and the black face… Together they left their houses in their costumes – together – and then when confronted, they try to defend why they think it’s okay.’

Some commentators criticized the teens amid the Black Lives Matter movement after George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis in May 2020.

Meanwhile, last year a group of teenagers in Colorado were convicted of a disturbing and disgusting reenactment of Floyd’s death, in which a boy in blackface posed with a white student’s knee to his neck.

The shocking photo was taken on the grounds of Mead High School.

It shows a student in blackface lying on the floor, while another student presses his knee to his neck and the third kneels on his back – the very same position that black 46-year-old Floyd was forced into during his murder by Officer Derek Chauvin.

The third teen appeared to pretend to hold the boy black on the ground. Their photo was titled: ‘Bye bye seniors.’

The photo went viral and sparked protests outside the school.
