You’ve been grating cheese wrong! Woman is left stunned by TikTok hack which makes prepping food easier

A woman is baffled by a simple yet obvious TikTok lifehack for grating cheese.

Brenna Breedlove from Texas couldn’t believe she’d been grating cheese “wrong” her whole life when she stumbled upon the easy trick.

Grating cheese is one of the most frustrating tasks in cooking. Many chefs get angry because they have to hold the grater in the air with pain or because they have to wash an extra plate.

But Brenna showed her followers a simple solution in a video that has since been viewed more than 20 million times.

“The shit I learn on TikTok,” she captioned her post on her account @go4gobblerwith the hashtag ‘#yourewelcomeforthis’.

“I still feel bad that I didn’t know this sooner,” she added in the comments section.

The mother of two sons simply turned the grater on its side, instead of holding it upright.

She then began to simply grate the cheese, using the bottom of the grater as a buffer to prevent a mess.

Social media users couldn’t believe their eyes when it became apparent how simple the hack was. Many couldn’t believe how easy it was.

They said, ‘This could have saved my knuckles a long time ago’;

‘Sometimes I forget that life has no rules’;

‘Some things are so simple that I feel like my intelligence is being tested’;

‘Who will let me be an adult, this is really embarrassing.’

Social media users were impressed with the simple lifehack, but some were confused about the way Brenna previously grated cheese

However, others found it odd that Brenna grated her cheese while holding the grater vertically.

They said, ‘What’s different about a cheese grater…’;

“How did you do that before?”

It comes after people were left baffled when they discovered what the fourth side of a cheese grater was for.

A Reddit user posted a photo of his own cheese grater, showing the side with the smallest holes.

He asked, “Does anyone ever use this part of the grater? What is it actually for?”

In a comment, the user added: ‘This only hurt my hand, but I’ve never used those little hole graters. I really only use the other side to grate cheese.’

And, as it turns out, u/MrLewk wasn’t the only one who was hesitant. Hundreds of people struggled to come up with a straight answer.

It’s pretty obvious what sides one, two, and three are for… but what about side four of the cheese grater?

Someone said, “That’s for securing that damn thing in the kitchen drawer and tearing off a piece of the front of the drawer.”

An equally confused Reditter wrote: ‘I have this exact one… and I also assumed it was to make the cheese a little smaller after grating. ‘But all it does is push your hand up when you’re not holding it… mf… it shaves a good knuckle…’

While another joked: ‘It’s very handy for shredding cleaning sponges.’

Luckily, some savvy chefs provided insight into how to utilize the dreaded fourth side.

Someone wrote: ‘It took me years to figure this out, but Parmesan cheese and lemon/orange/lime zest taste best when you grate them on both sides.’
