Grandmother’s disemboweled body is found by shocked relative after she was crushed and EATEN by huge python

The body of a grandmother who had vomited her food has been found by a horrified relative after she was crushed and eaten by a huge python.

Maga, 74, was grazing her cows in a wooded area in the Sumarambu Mountains, about a mile from her home in the town of Palopo in South Sulawesi province, on Aug. 14. But she never returned home, sparking unrest among her family.

The grandmother’s son, Sanaria, 39, went into the woods on August 15 and found blood spatters on the ground near a house where Maga usually stays.

Not far away, her lifeless body lay stretched out in the grass. She reportedly had bite marks on her head and ankles and was believed to have been vomited up by a huge reticulated python.

Sanaria carried his mother home as emotional family members cried hysterically over her sudden death.

What is the reticulated python?

The Reticulated Python (Malayopython reticulatus) is the longest snake in the world, regularly reaching lengths of over 6.25 metres (20 ft).

It is the longest of the 39 species in the family Pythonidae and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.

Reticulated pythons live in Southeast Asia. They are typically found in rainforests, woodlands, and grasslands, but their habitat preferences vary depending on their location.

Iptu Yusran Sa’ buran, Telluwanua Deputy Police Chief, said: “After residents gathered at the scene with police and also local government personnel, the victim’s body was examined and it was confirmed that she was killed by a snake.

‘She was swallowed up to her shoulders and then spat out again.

‘Residents and relatives of the victim subsequently searched the scene of the crime and not far away, in the bushes, a python measuring approximately four metres in length was found.’

The villagers killed the snake and took the mutilated body to Maga’s house for burial.

This came just months after the body of another woman was found eaten alive by a giant python, also in Indonesia.

Farida, a mother of four, disappeared on June 6 while she was walking through a forest to sell food at a local market near her home in Kalempang village.

The python sank its teeth into her leg as it coiled around her body, choking her, before swallowing her head first.

Farida’s husband Noni, 55, became concerned that she had not returned home that evening and alerted other residents, who launched a search.

The next day they found a giant python, six metres long, stretched out in the undergrowth with a large bulge in its stomach.

The next day, locals found the gigantic 20-foot python sprawled in the undergrowth with a large bulge in its belly

The villagers used a blanket to protect Farida’s modesty as they pulled her out of the snake’s stomach

In a video of the scene, the animal’s enormous head can be seen with its tongue protruding from its lips.

Suspecting the worst, the distraught husband and some villagers cut open the thick hide with a machete.

Farida was trapped in the snake’s stomach, covered in mucus.

She was taken away and taken for a religious funeral in Pitu Riawa district of Sidrap regency, South Sulawesi province.

Before Farida’s death, the last documented case of a human being eaten by a python was in 2022.

In that case, Jahrah, 54, disappeared while collecting rubber on a plantation in Indonesia’s Jambi province, before shocked locals found a giant python with a large bulge in its stomach two days later, on Sunday morning, October 23.

A 54-year-old Indonesian grandmother was found dead in the stomach of a 6.7-meter-long python (left and right) after she was eaten alive when she went into the jungle to collect rubber

According to Anto, the head of Terjun Gajah village where Jahrah lived, the snake is said to have attacked Jahrah by biting her and then wrapping itself around her to suffocate her.

She was then swallowed whole, a painful ordeal that would have lasted at least two hours from head to toe.

In 2018, another woman was eaten alive by a python. Mother of two Wa Tiba, 54, disappeared while checking her vegetable garden on Muna Island in Sulawesi province, prompting a massive search by locals.

Her sandals and machete were found a day later: a giant python with a swollen belly lay about 30 meters away.
