This is the shocking moment a 95-year-old grandfather was thrown into the air after being hit by a BMW that sped away without stopping.
Mohammed Akbar suffered bruises all over his body and injuries to his knees and jaw when the powerful gray vehicle crashed into him as he was crossing the road.
The pensioner had been walking to a shop on the Audley Range in Blackburn, Lancashire, on Friday to pay a bill when the BMW 318d suddenly crashed into him.
CCTV footage shows the retired bus driver crossing the road around 1.50pm.
The BMW is seen at an intersection before speeding away and turning right, apparently without noticing anyone crossing.

Mr. Akbar’s limp body is suddenly thrown against the hood as the vehicle crashes into him.
People immediately rush towards Mr Akbar as he lies sprawled on the ground, but the car blatantly drives away and leaves the scene.
Police are now looking for the driver of the BMW, while Mohammed’s son Masood Akhtar has also asked for help in finding the motorist.
Mr Akhtar said: “How can you justify that? Have some heart. He just left and didn’t even bother to stop to check on our dad.
‘As a family we are still in shock. I continue to experience the incident and wish it had happened to me.
“We have a lot of people from Blackburn and around the country who have contacted him to find out how he is doing.
‘There are many people who drive irresponsibly and zoom around.
“If you have a young child or an elderly person crossing the road I would urge people to keep an eye out for them.
‘I think this has become worse and it is dangerous there for the very young and the elderly. We really need to speak out about this.’
Mr Akbar was rushed to hospital with numerous injuries but has fortunately returned home where he is recovering.
Mr Akhtar, however, said his family is shocked by the incident, which could have cost the life of his beloved father.
He added: “He is very careful and always checks to make sure it is safe.
‘He crossed and was also watched by the person who dropped him off. Then this happened.

“I got a call from someone who recognized who he was, and they told me what happened. I came over as quickly as possible.
‘It was really shocking to see. You just don’t wish this on anyone. He was an older man just going about his business.
‘My eight-year-old is very upset, as are all his grandchildren.
‘My father still likes to go out and do things himself.’
Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage that captured the BMW before or after the crash.
Sergeant Pete Fayers, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “This collision has left a pensioner seriously injured and my thoughts are with him and his loved ones at this time.
‘I would like to directly appeal to the driver of the BMW to do the right thing and contact the police immediately.’
