The ITV cooking competition, in which 12 aspiring chefs battled to impress the star alongside judges Paul Ainsworth and Nyesha Arrington with the winner receiving a £100,000 prize and a year of mentoring, has not been renewed for a second edition.

An informant said Sun newspaper TVBiz column: ‘Gordon is highly competitive and has destroyed that the series did not get a second chance.

“These kinds of shows always take a while to get going and for viewers to connect, so he feels he wasn’t given the right opportunity.

“But accept that TV is a brutal world and sometimes the shows just don’t work.”

The first and only series aired earlier this month, and social media chef Jade Greenhalgh won the competition.

An ITV spokesperson said: “There are no current plans for a second series, but viewers can watch the first series on ITVX.”

Meanwhile, Gordon is set to return for another ITV road trip with Fred Sirieix, while bosses hope Gino D’Acampo will change his mind and return to the show despite some contract issues.

A source recently told Mail Online: “The bosses are hoping to convince Gino to stay with Gordon and Fred, because they really have fun together and make great TV.”

Gino had revealed that he “decided not to film any more” road trips, but insisted that it “had nothing to do with Gordon or Fred”, noting that their “friendship is very strong”.

He said in an Instagram video: “It’s just because we can’t put the dates together and sometimes when we put them together, sometimes they get swapped and it causes me a lot of trouble because I have other things I have to do.” do.

‘Personal problems also because when I have to change things with my family it is very complicated and also because [of] contracts.’
