Good Samaritan’s heartwarming gesture brings Mr Toys Toyworld customers to tears

A kind-hearted Good Samaritan has helped dozens of struggling families pay off their children’s Christmas gifts after generously footing the bill for each one-off payment at a popular toy store.

The mystery man picked up the bill for hundreds of toys pre-ordered by 40 customers at Mr Toys Toyworld in Helensvale, on the Gold Coast.

Customers were stunned when they received a phone call on Wednesday informing them that outstanding balances on purchases had all been settled.

Brooklyn Manu, who was splurging on several gifts for her children, thought the kind gesture was too good to be true when she was first told.

‘[I got a call saying] someone paid for your parking can you come pick it up and i thought someone was kidding me,” the grateful mother shared Seven news.

“It goes beyond kindness, it’s really amazing that someone would do that.”

Other customers took to social media to express their appreciation to the ‘incredible gentleman’ for the selfless act.

‘I immediately bawled my eyes out and cried for a good 5-10 minutes. Nothing like this has ever happened to us,” one mother wrote.

‘I cannot express how much joy, happiness… I have felt in the last few hours. Thank you.’

Store manager Aleka Riggs described the mystery shopper as ‘lovely’ and ‘humble’.

She helped many customers rush to close outstanding balances on purchases with Christmas less than a month away.

“I can only imagine that there are many families who are struggling to pay off the redundancy payments,” she said.

Another staff member told me Nine news they did not recognize the man who paid for the parking spaces. It’s clear he’s never been seen in the store before.

The latest act of kindness comes after a woman made a similar contribution at another Toyworld store in nearby Burleigh Waters four years ago.

The woman paid the bill for 80 gifts worth a total of $16,000.

The unidentified woman said she wanted to help others who were struggling.

A year later, an elderly Victorian couple paid off 82 maternity gifts at a Toyworld store in Bendigo, in the state’s north.
