Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner’s daughter defends his quick divorce from Theresa Nist amid ‘disheartening’ fan vitriol: They’re ‘kind, good people’

Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner gets some much-needed support from a source close to home: his daughter.

In an Instagram post shared Wednesday, Angie Turner stood up for her father against fans who criticized him for his short marriage and divorce to Theresa Nist.

Angie recognized the “range of emotions and opinions” her father’s brief union with Theresa had brought about, but she urged her followers to remember that the exes were both “nice, good people.”

The supportive post comes after Theresa’s daughter Jen Woolston shared a warm post declaring that Gerry would always be ‘family’ despite the split.

Gerry and Theresa announced earlier this month that they were divorcing after just three months of marriage.

Angie’s message featured an off-white screen with block letters: “Everything always works out in the end.”

She opened her caption with an approving nod to Best Shandy Podcast co-host Andy Levine.

In a recent episode, he saluted Gerry and Theresa for choosing to end their marriage as soon as they realized it wouldn’t work out, rather than staying together for a longer period of time to capitalize on their newfound fame, according to TMZ.

‘Wow. Andy expressed this sentiment well in his Dear Shandy podcast,” Gerry’s daughter began.

She wrote that she understood that the divorce between her father and Theresa had “sparked a range of emotions and opinions” among Golden Bachelor fans and viewers.

“I love how involved people were in the show, what an experience to have you there!” she gushed.

But she admitted it was “disheartening” to see the “level of anger and cruelty” from fans directed at her father – and even his family appear to have caught some stray dogs.

Angie urged her readers to remember that Gerry and Theresa were adults who could take care of themselves.

“My father and Theresa are kind, good people who made this decision for them and no one else,” she said. “I kindly ask everyone to remember that behind every story are real people with real feelings.”

But she also gave special thanks to “all those who chose to show love and compassion to my father, Theresa and our family.”

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” she added, before directing her followers to Levine’s podcast.

Gerry and Theresa shocked viewers when they appeared on Good Morning America on April 12 and revealed they were divorcing after getting married just three months earlier.

“Thérèsa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we have taken a close look at our situation, our living arrangements, and so forth, and – and we have mutually come to the conclusion that it is probably time for us to dissolve our marriage, Gerry said to the host, Juju Chang.

The new exes added that “family” was one of their biggest concerns, and they said their inability to settle down in a place was one of the biggest factors leading to the breakup.

“My father and Theresa are kind, good people who made this decision for them and no one else,” she said. “I urge everyone to remember that behind every story are real people with real feelings.”

Gerry is originally from Indiana, while Theresa lives in New Jersey, but after considering “house after house” in South Carolina and Jersey, they decided to call off the search.

Gerry also made it clear he did not ‘fall out of love’ when quizzed about the end of the romance.

‘No. I still love this person. “I have no doubt about it: I am still in love with her and support her every day,” he said of Theresa.

However, the couple had to “give their rings back,” according to the terms of a prenuptial agreement they signed.
