During her first Celebration Tour stop in London, Madonna admitted on stage that she “didn’t think I was going to make it” during the period where she forgot “five days” of her life.

“I didn’t think I was going to make it, and neither did my doctors,” she said. “That’s why I woke up with all my kids around me.”

‘I forgot five days of my life, or my death, I don’t really know where I was. But the angels protected me,” she continued. ‘And my children were there. And my kids always save me, every time.”

Madonna added, “If you want to know how I got through it and how I survived, I thought, I have to be there for my kids.” I have to survive for them.”

And during her tour stop in Los Angeles earlier this year in March, the singer further reflected on the ‘near-death’ health scare.

‘This show every night is not that physically demanding for me. It’s emotionally difficult for me because I’m really telling you the story of my life,” she told the live audience at the Kia Forum, per Just shocked.

‘My heart is on my sleeve. I’ve fallen off many horses and broken many bones… but nothing can stop me.’

She also claimed that the first word she said when she woke up from her coma was simply “No!”

“I’m pretty sure God said to me, ‘Do you want to come? Do you want to come with me?'” and she responded, “No!”

She also credited her children with helping her in her recovery. Notably, she is mother to Lourdes Leon, 27, Rocco Ritchie, 23, David Banda and Mercy James, 18, as well as twins Stella and Estere, 11.

“My kids really helped me get through it because they worked so hard. I didn’t want to let them down, so I just set a date. And that date became a reality.’
