The Australian Gladiators reboot is being panned by viewers months ahead of its release after Channel 10 shared some first photos from the upcoming series.
A group photo released by 10 last week on the show’s official Instagram page drew the ire of fans due to the exaggerated appearance of the male contestants.
Previously, stars of the show wore eye-catching bodybuilding suits, which hugged their physiques as they fought competitors on the show.
In the latest promotional photo, former rugby league star Sandor Earl, who plays Phoenix in the show, can be seen showing off his hulking frame in a crop top and mini shorts, along with a metallic silver cape.
Ironman Jett Kenny, who plays Viking, can also be seen showing off his toned midriff in a fur-trimmed crop top and skin-tight pants.

Khan Porter, who plays Gladiator Spartan, was seen posing in a deep blue and silver bodysuit with a triangular pattern across it.
Similarly, Blessings Chilufya, who plays Cyclone, was seen flexing his toned physique in another skimpy crop top and flamboyant face paint.
Only former Ninja Warrior Kwame Duah, who plays Maximus, had a less campy costume with an oversized white singlet and sporty shorts.
Damien Rider, who plays Cobra, also opted for a more masculine character.

The flamboyant outfits left some viewers unimpressed, with many pointing out how different they looked in the original version of the competition series.
“Why do these gladiators look like they’re about to walk down a parade?” one fan of the show wrote under the photo.
‘What the hell are those boys wearing?! Surely you can dress them in more masculine (clothing) than that?’ asked another.
“I’m not sure about the crop tops and capes for men,” wrote yet another.

Other fans couldn’t wait for the highly anticipated show to begin, with a shoutout to the show’s male and female stars.
“Low key obsessed,” wrote drag queen Courtney Act.
‘Gods! All of them,” one gushed. “Wohoo,” another added.
Earlier this month, Channel 10 announced that Gladiators will be hosted by Liz Ellis and Beau Ryan.
The show, which will air later next year, will see the sports personalities take on the role on the small screen.

Beau, who currently hosts the Amazing Race, said he was ‘extremely excited’ to take on the job of the iconic show.
“I am beyond excited to be co-hosting with the wonderful Liz Ellis,” he said.
“Liz is a national treasure, and we’re going to have a lot of fun. I grew up watching and loving it and can’t wait to get started with it. It’s going to be spectacular.’
The Gladiators and Contenders skills are tested with obstacles such as Hang Tough, Duel, The Wall, Power Ball, Pyramid and The Eliminator.
It will be the ultimate test of speed, strength, endurance, agility and power.
The high-octane show, made popular in 1995 and 1996, found its home on 10.
In addition to the Australian show, the BBC is also planning a reboot for British fans of the competitive series.
The show was rebooted in 2008, but failed to find a steady audience. It was presented by Tom Williams and Zoe Naylor.
The show was filmed at The Dome at Sydney Showground, with challengers competing for $50,000 and a Subaru Forester.
The show featured some household names, including Zac Kozyrski as ‘Hunter’ and Jackson Mullane as ‘Outlaw’.
Female gladiators included Tiffiny Hall as ‘Angel’ and Olympian Tatiana Grigorieva as ‘Olympia’ in the show.
The upcoming version of the show will be hosted by Beau Ryan and Liz Ellis. Both shown
