Gladiators finalist Finlay Anderson reveals he’ll be watching the much-anticipated conclusion while deployed overseas as an Army officer

He’s the spandex-clad military machine that made it to the Gladiators finals.

And Finlay Anderson, 31, has revealed he will be watching the highly anticipated BBC final from abroad with his fellow military troops.

The army officer climbed, wrestled and ran against Wesley Male, Bronte Jones and Marie-Louise Nicholson in the final rounds of the popular weekend game show.

Finlay admitted to telling a few friends who will be crowned the winner tonight and told his fellow finalists on BBC Breakfast on Saturday morning that he has been deployed abroad with his company’s troops.

He told presenters Naga Munchetty and Roger Johnson: “I was deployed with his company on an operation overseas, so we have a way of looking at it.

“Fortunately, my soldiers and I will be watching while we’re here.

“So I’ll be both encouraged and intimidated.”

When asked if he had told anyone the results, he admitted that although he had kept it quiet, he had told a few people.

The eleven-episode series pits a new generation of Gladiators against the public: from an elite CrossFit athlete from Manchester to a James Bond actor and two Olympians.

Each episode pits the Gladiators against competitors in games new and old, ending with the iconic challenge, The Eliminator.

After ten grueling weeks of battling the superhuman Gladiators, they enter the arena one last time to see who has the will, skill and heart to be a winner and walk away from Gladiators Champion 2024.

Before they enter battle in the legendary Eliminator, they will first feel the power of the Gladiators.

Firefighter Bronte, 23, from Sheffield, is the youngest contender in the final, and throughout the competition she has once again come up with Diamond, Fury and many more.

Finlay admitted he had told some friends who will be crowned the winner tonight and told his fellow finalists on BBC Breakfast on Saturday morning that he has been deployed abroad with his company’s troops.

Ahead of the final, Bronte admitted it felt “crazy” to be in the final and didn’t expect to get as far as she did.

She said: ‘I’m really proud of myself.’

Marie-Louise, from Dublin, has scored maximum points five times in the series.

Although she struggled with some challenges, she emerged victorious and became a finalist during The Eliminator.

They join Finlay from Edinburgh and Wesley, an administrative assistant from Leeds.

The BBC has confirmed that Gladiators will return for a second series.

The rebooted show returned in January with father and son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh as hosts from Sheffield.

The revival was a ratings success story, with the debut episode attracting a whopping 6.4 million viewers.

Its future was confirmed after BBC chief Tim Davie included the series in his list of ‘big priorities’ for the year in a speech to the Royal Television Society on Monday.

He said: ‘It does of course mean that, despite budget pressures, we will prioritize big national occasions – from the Coronation, the Eurovision Song Contest, the Proms and Glastonbury, to the Olympics and the European Championships, or Strictly or Gladiators , Children in Need or even that big drama: Election Night.’

The grand finale itself will be broadcast on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 5:50 PM

The episode was filmed in front of a live studio audience at an arena in Sheffield last year – and fans watching on TV will only have a short time to find out who the final winners of the show are.

The show is a reboot of the iconic sports show that ran between 1992 and 2000.
