Nat Barr unleashes at Albanese govt after freed immigration detainee allegedly bashed elderly woman – as shocking new details emerge: ‘A code red stuff up – Australia is furious’

Nat Barr has accused the government of ‘code red stuff’ after an immigration detainee was released on bail three times before allegedly beating an elderly woman unconscious in her own home.

Majid Jamshidi Doukoshkan, 43, was one of 149 people released from immigration detention after the Supreme Court ruled against indefinite detention late last year.

He is one of three men accused of breaking into the home of Ninette, 73, and Philip Simons, 76, in Girrawheen, north Perth, on April 16.

The group, posing as police officers, allegedly assaulted the elderly couple before making off with jewelry and other belongings worth more than $200,000.

Mrs Simons was knocked unconscious and left with such serious injuries that she thought she ‘should have been dead’.

Sunrise host Barr expressed anger Tuesday morning that Doukoshkan was among the immigration detainees released into the community following the Supreme Court’s controversial ruling in November.

“There’s bad stuff and then there’s this Code Red stuff,” Barr said.

“Australia is furious this morning. How on earth will the government solve this?’

But Seven’s political editor Mark Riley said Australians would be “crazier” to hear Doukoshkan has been released on bail three times this year.

“Twice on state charges for drug and driving violations, and the most recent of which was just days ago, and also once on the Commonwealth charges, federal charges for visa violation, which of course the government has messed up,” Riley said.

Doukoshkan was ordered to appear in court in Perth in February after breaching some of his bail conditions.

He appeared in the Joondalup Magistrates Court on Monday charged with aggravated house burglary, assault, detaining a person, robbery and impersonating a public servant.

A man, 38, and two women, 24 and 48, were arrested over the alleged home invasion.

The 38-year-old man was suspected of one number of violations in connection with the alleged serious home burglary.

Police will allege the 48-year-old woman drove three men to and from Girrawheen’s home on the night of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing and one alleged perpetrator remains outstanding.

Detectives are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

Doukoshkan was taken into custody and brought back to court on June 10.

He was among inmates released from Perth’s Yongah Hill Detention Center last November.

According to a Supreme Court ruling, it was illegal for detainees who could not be deported to be held indefinitely and he was released into the community along with dozens of other detainees.

On March 22, a court order requiring Mr. Doukoshkan to remain at a permanent address was halted after about a month in effect.

The Federal Opposition has called for the immediate resignations of Home Secretary Clare O’Neil and Immigration Minister Andrew Giles over the detainee immigration scandal.

“If they can’t explain what they’re going to do to make sure this never happens again, they should both resign,” said Liberal Senator James Paterson.
