Hartford police said the girl, who did not have a name, was shot in the head around 9 p.m. Thursday while sitting in a parked car. She is currently in mortal danger.

Police do not believe she was the intended target and that she “probably had nothing to do with it.”

Three others were found shot dead on the pavement in Huntington Street. An 18-year-old man was found with ‘serious injuries’ in the vicinity of the girl’s car.

‘[It’s] very serious,” Lieutenant Aaron Boisvert said at a news conference. “She is currently critical [and] unstable.’

Three others were found shot dead on the pavement in Huntington Street. An 18-year-old man was found near the little girl’s car with ‘serious injuries’, according to police

Two of the victims, both men, walked to St. Francis Hospital and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Boisvert said their wounds “appear to be cuts at the moment.”

None of the victims have been publicly named. Police believe the three men were the target of the shooting.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the Hartford Police Department for comment.

The incident was captured on surveillance footage, which has not been released publicly, and police are working to locate the attacker’s vehicle.

“We have video of a vehicle flying by and traveling north on Huntington Street when the gunfire erupted,” Boisvert said. “We are actively trying to decipher what vehicle that was so we can start looking for it.”

Lieutenant Aaron Boisvert believes the little girl is innocent and that the three men were the intended targets

Police are also trying to determine whether any shots were fired by the three men.

Boisvert said the girl was the “youngest” victim in Hartford in 2023 and that the girl’s mother has been notified of her daughter’s injuries.

‘It is very tragic, very sad, [it’s] sickening,’ said the officer.

Despite the tragic incidents, shootings in Hartford are down 17 percent, as is the homicide rate, which is 60 percent less than the same time last year.

Most violent crimes are down at least 30 percent in the city, with the exception of rape and gun robbery, which are up 64 and 23 percent, respectively.
