George Russell decided to extend his stay in Las Vegas after winning Saturday night’s Grand Prix.
The 26-year-old Briton started the poll and finished first ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton as part of a Mercedes one-two.
This was only Russell’s second Grand Prix victory of 2024, after triumphing in Austria in June.
After Saturday’s win, Russell told Sky Sports he was changing his travel plans so he and his team could enjoy a “good party” in Sin City.
“It’s going to be a good party,” he beamed.
‘I was planning to fly in a few hours, but I’m definitely not going on that flight.

‘I’m going to enjoy this evening with my entire team.
‘It was a dream of a weekend. I don’t know how we got so fast, but I’m just riding this wave right now.”
Driving through Vegas at night, he added, “Vegas is just a crazy place and when you’re driving you see all this in the background.
‘I can’t describe this place and to get the win here, pole position and a dominant weekend… including a one-two with Lewis, we couldn’t have chosen a better place to make this happen.’
About the race itself he said: ‘I was just waiting for something to happen, the two races I did on pole before it was always chaos, rain, dry, something was always happening. [like the] last race in Brazil with the red flag, something always happens.
‘I felt confident and had a big gap, but I was just waiting for something to happen and it didn’t, so I think luck has changed and I’m so happy now.’
Russell sits sixth in the 2024 drivers’ standings with two races remaining.
Saturday’s result confirmed the fate of the title as sixth place was enough for 2024 leader Max Verstappen to clinch a fourth consecutive world crown.

Verstappen sent a message to his fans after the race.
“It’s great to see that the fans support me everywhere,” said Verstappen.
‘Last year they were a bit spoiled with all the wins, so they had to wait a long time for it in the middle of the season.
“They are an incredible support and it’s great to see them here.
“What can I say to the team: we have been through a lot together and all these highlights that we are achieving together is just very special to do that, with the whole group of people we have on the track and back on the track. factory they always do everything they can to give me the car with which I can fight for the title.’
