George Clooney makes a fashionable entrance at Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote his new film The Boys in the Boat

George Clooney started his week on a fashionable note, heading to Hollywood to promote his new directorial role The Boys in the Boat.

The 62-year-old actor and filmmaker was spotted entering the studios of Jimmy Kimmel Live in Hollywood on Monday afternoon.

The outing comes just days after he was spotted in Seattle with his wife Amal on Friday for a preview of The Boys in the Boat.

Clooney stepped out in a dark blue, slightly unbuttoned shirt without a tie under a black suit jacket.

The actor also sported a trimmed gray beard and a silver watch sticking out of his suit jacket.

The actor and filmmaker completed his look with black pants and matching black shoes for the outing.

Clooney returns to the director's chair for his eighth feature film, The Boys in the Boat, an adaptation of Daniel James Brown's 2013 book of the same name.

The film follows the University of Washington rowing team that represented the United States at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin.

The team, made up of sons of workers, was never expected to compete with elite teams from Britain or host country Germany, although they won gold, shocking the German team that rowed for Adolf Hitler.

At the heart of the story is rower Joe Rantz, who was abandoned by his family at a very young age and had to fend for himself as a teenager.

Callum Turner stars as Joe Rantz, with Joel Edgerton as Coach Al Ulbrickson and Peter Guinness as boat builder George Pocock.

Clooney directs from an adapted screenplay by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant), with the director also producing alongside his Smokehouse Pictures partner Grant Heslov.

The film will be released on December 25 and opens with the musical adaptation of The Color Purple.
