George and Amal Clooney made a glamorous entrance in the 83rd Venice Film Festival today by water taxi as the glitzy annual event gets underway.
And it’s not just any Venice Film Festival for George this year, as he will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Last year he attended the festival to promote his film Jay Kelly, in which he plays a movie star who travels to Italy for a Lifetime Achievement Award.
So life will imitate art this year as he receives the Golden Lion tomorrow – the opening day of the event.
As they traveled through Venice’s waterways in a taxi, Amal, 48, showed off her refined sense of style in khaki shorts and a matching blazer.
George, 65, was a true gentleman as he helped his wife out of the water taxi by holding her hand.

It’s not a long trip to Venice for the couple as they own a 15-bedroom villa a few hours away on Lake Como, where they stay with their nine-year-old fraternal twins, Ella and Alexander.
In the nearly 30 years since he attended his first Venice Film Festival George has become a fixture at the event with the film Out Of Sight.
It is a place where he has lived many important moments, from his wedding to Amal at the luxury Aman Venice hotel to the debut of Good Night, And Good Luck, which he co-wrote and starred in and for which he was nominated for his first Oscar for Best Director.
The red carpet events kick off on Wednesday with the premiere of British director Danny Boyle’s Ink, a drama about the rise of media mogul Rupert Murdoch.
It closes on September 12 with the Italian costume drama Dio Ride (God Laughs), written and directed by Giovanni Veronesi.
American actress and filmmaker Maggie Gyllenhaal will chair the jury for the main competition.
She is joined by Tunisian director and screenwriter Kaouther Ben Hania, English composer Daniel Blumberg, Italian film critic Francesco Casetti, French director Xavier Giannoli, Afghan director Shahrbanoo Sadat and Hong Kong director Johnnie To.

The Gallagher brothers will be on hand to promote their documentary Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger, which follows the band’s 2025 reunion tour.
The Clooneys may have been staying at their Lake Como home to escape the July wildfires that devastated southern France, where the couple has their main residence.
The family lives in Brignoles, located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, which was threatened by fires that spread across France, Greece, Italy and Spain.
In a letter to Brignoles mayor Didier Brémond, George revealed that he and his loved ones had evacuated their home. People at the time.
The actor has reportedly vowed to support the city, which has a population of just under 18,000, regardless of the impact of the advancing fires.
“Dear Didier, At this moment we have no idea whether our beautiful home will withstand this terrible moment,” the Hollywood veteran began.
“As we evacuate Brignoles, we want to emphasize two things: first, we hope that you and the people of our town are safe and second, that Amal and I are committed to ensuring that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and we will be part of making it whole,” he wrote.
“We love Brignoles and our friends who live there.”
