Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez ‘are planning to buy a family home in Spain’ to spend more time with the professional dancer’s family: ‘It’s something we are hoping to do’

TV’s favorite power couple Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez are reportedly ‘planning to buy a family home in Spain’.

The former glamor model, 39, and the Strictly alum, 33, are set to settle in the sunny country so they can also ‘spend more time’ with Gorka’s family.

The pair first met on the hit BBC dancing competition in 2017 when they worked together, and later got engaged.

The couple share son Thiago, six months, and daughter Mia, four.

‘We want to get somewhere so that we always have a home away from home. It would help me with mine [and the children’s] Spanish and Gorka’s parents were able to drive by,” Gemma told The Mirror.

“It’s something we hope to do by the end of this year. We love Spain.’

The former actress admitted that they are “doing well” with their now family of four and said Mia is “a fantastic sister” who goes all out with his little brother Thiago.

As an example, she said, “We were a little late for school today and she forgot to give him a kiss before we left, so she had to run back in to give him a kiss before we left.” So we’re very lucky.’

Gemma, gushing over her family, is their nest as a “fun, complete family with chaos,” summing it up as, “Two kids, two dogs and a Spaniard.”

The Hits Radio presenter also spilled the beans on their date nights, admitting they prefer to stay home.

Former Hollyoaks star Gemma and Gorka appear to be planning to juggle a very busy schedule as they recently confirmed a second season of their family documentary Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens.

The show provides an insightful, real look into the family’s lives as they juggle busy work schedules with their family life.

Last season, the couple shared intimate details of their lives while documenting the impending arrival of their second child.

Meanwhile, Gorka has also become a judge on the Spanish version of Strictly Come Dancing, in which he will take on a tough filming schedule in Madrid.

The goal of a Kardashian-esque reality show has become the latest trend among stars, but Gemma revealed that viewers shouldn’t expect perfection from their fly-on-the-wall family series.

Unlike the Kardashians, the mother-of-two keeps her show open and honest, while admitting that there are still dogs pooping in the yard and children running to school.

They have no butlers or nannies running after their four-year-old daughter Mia, nor their six-month-old son Thiago, and they still have to put food on the table every night.

Speaking about the new show, Gemma said: ‘I’ve had mums message me saying they’re grateful it’s not a big glam team with hair and make-up, an ‘everything is perfect’ type show.

‘We didn’t want it polished, pristine and perfect, because that’s not what everyday life is. It’s chaos; it’s the burning of the toast in the morning, the dog pooping in the garden while I try to feed the birds, the manic school run, Gorka packing up to go to work for a few days.

‘It’s just very recognizable because most families do that kind of nonsense. And unless you’re a Kardashian with butlers, nannies and chefs, which is great, life isn’t like that. It’s the exact opposite and full on. I think that’s why people liked it so much.’

The series – which will air later this year on UKTV’s free-to-air entertainment channel W and streaming service UKTV Play – will see Gemma in the final days of her maternity leave as she prepares to return to work in April after the birth to Thiago in July last year.

Sparkling star Gorka will have just returned from his most recent stint on Strictly before taking on a construction project and enjoying a trip to his hometown in Spain.

Now that Gemma’s first children’s book has been published and her ongoing training journey, their lives are anything but quiet.

With little time in their hectic schedule, the couple is determined to make the most of the precious time they have together with Mia and baby Thiago.

Helen Nightingale, UKTV’s head of factual and factual entertainment, said: ‘I’m so excited to have Gemma and Gorka back on our screens for a second series.

“Their warm and relatable relationship, and hilariously unfiltered moments from series one, have left audiences wanting more and I can’t wait to see what else the family has in store for us in this next episode.”

Adam Collings, channel director of W, said: “It’s fantastic news that we’re getting a second helping of Gemma and Gorka on W.

“Our viewers have enjoyed getting to know the family behind closed doors, so I’m thrilled they can continue to do so in this new series that promises more heartfelt and honest moments.”
