Arsenal will look to replicate their domestic form in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening.

Mikel Arteta’s side will be looking to combine their Premier League title challenge with a deep run in the Champions League when they face the German giants.

Bayern have beaten Arsenal 5-1 in each of their last three Champions League games, but the German champions head to north London on a poor run of form.

The hosts will still have to be wary of Harry Kane as the former Tottenham striker looks to find the net again against Arsenal.

Here, Mail Sport’s CHRIS SUTTON picks three key battles ahead of the first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

GABRIEL & WILLIAM SALIBA vs. HARRY KANE

The Premier League has seen some famous ‘thou shalt not pass’ combinations – from Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic to John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho – and Gabriel and Saliba have been completely dominant domestically this season.

Now it’s time to translate that into the crucial stages of the Champions League.

It won’t take much for Kane to be motivated and he will give them the ultimate test in the way he falls, half-turns, connects and of course scores.

BUKAYO SAKA v ALPHONSO DAVIES

This should be a high octane fight.

Saka will try to confuse Davies into not knowing where he is as he feints, goes, stops, comes in, cuts back and generally tries to ravage the defender. Sometimes you have to wonder if there’s glue on his boots.

But Davies also likes to fly forward. He is ultra-fast and Saka will have to show a willingness to work.

He’ll have to do the dirty work because Ben White will need his help.

MARTIN ODEGAARD vs LEON GORETZKA

Bayern will know they have to nullify the instrumental Odegaard.

With his vision and ability to get the ball on the half turn, he can cut you open with one of those sliding passes he likes to play.

Goretzka is a powerhouse in Bayern’s midfield, who will have to try to prevent Odegaard from dictating.

He can also play a nice pass, but I suspect we’ll see Goretzka try to use his physicality.
