Fujifilm’s next budget camera could pack surprisingly powerful hardware

New information has recently been leaked about Fujifilm’s next camera, the X-T50, which provides some insight into its performance. According to Fuji Rumorsthe device will have in-body image stabilization (IBIS). This feature reduces the amount of camera shake to ensure crystal clear photos. It is a piece of technology that can also be found on the more expensive Fujifilm X-T5. Additionally, like its counterpart, the X-T50 is said to house a 40MP X-Trans V image sensor

This could mean that the new camera performs just as well as the X-T5, and is capable of taking the same level of high-quality photos. However, if NotebookCheck points out that this is unlikely, as the X-T50 is supposed to be a budget model. Fujifilm doesn’t want to cannibalize sales of the X-T5, so the publication theorizes that the company will hold back their new device somehow.

The X-T50 could house older hardware such as the X Processor 4 instead of the more recent NotebookCheck doesn’t elaborate on this idea further, but it could mean that there is only one SD card slot on board, for example. Small cuts like these would keep prices low.

Possible prices

Since the X-T50 will get a hardware upgrade, chances are it will still cost more than the $900 X-T30 II. No word on how much it will cost. That X-Trans sensor and IBIS implementation will drive up the price tag regardless of any cost-cutting measures from Fujifilm.

We won’t have to wait long to get more details. Fuji Rumors claims that the X-T50 will be officially announced on May 16 at the company’s X Summit event takes place in Sydney, Australia. In addition, there will be the Fujiflim GFX100SII and the Fujinon XF14-50mm f/2.8-4.8 kit lens. Little is known about either, although images of the latter have surfaced. Sources close to the publication state that it will have features normally found on “higher end lenses”, such as an internal zoom mechanism.
