The stars celebrated April 1 on Monday morning in typically silly style.

From Ant and Dec claiming to have disappeared from the spotlight to TV stars claiming to have damaged valuable property – fans were careful not to fall for any jokes.

A large number of fans and followers flooded social media as the jokes were shared, with disparaging comments defiantly insisting they were not convinced.

ANT AND DEC

Ant and Dec joined in, claiming they were taking a break from showbiz and TV – to spend more time in the kitchen.

In the hilarious announcement, they posed together in a black and white photo wearing tops emblazoned with the slogan ‘Taste Matters’, with the caption: ‘We’ve been thinking about this for a while but wanted you to hear from us first’.

In quotes opposite, Ant said: ‘I believe food has the power to bring people together and create precious memories…

‘That’s how my family feels when I make them beans on toast. I look forward to starting this culinary journey with my sous chef, December.”

Dec, meanwhile, wrote about his love of cheese and branded Ant ‘a brilliant pot washer’, but they failed to deceive fans with the post.

Followers wrote: ‘Happy April Fools…Nice try guys pinch punch…Can’t be real. CANNOT be real… April 1st lol. I forgot that was today. I thought you meant it… Yes, happy April 1st to you too…

‘Ooooo, I almost let myself sit there for a while – not. Happy April Fools guys

Good morning Great Britain

As the week started, the Good Morning Britain presenters were some of the first stars to pull off a prank – with mixed reviews for the silly start.

Host Charlotte Hawkins was seen modeling a pearl necklace – reportedly once owned by Marilyn Monroe – but she was seen dropping the beads.

As the pearls shot around the studio, co-host Richard Madeley was seen pondering whether the scene was a joke or actually a gaffe.

Unimpressed viewers flooded Twitter, writing: ‘I saw it coming from a mile away, unfortunately gmb did it earlier this morning with a Marilyn Monroe pearl necklace so…

‘Weak and unfunny… as if everyone would have believed that ugly chunky pearl necklace belonged to Marilyn Monroe…

‘The image of her pearls was small and delicate, a pan-to-fat ugly plastic thing placed around the presenter’s neck and then breaking…

“Lord, we did better on April Fool’s Day at school… Oh come on Richard, when you said that, you looked at the camera. I knew it was an April Fool’s joke…

‘If you’re still working next year, don’t look at the camera…. The photo of pearls around her neck was small and the pearls on GMB were bigger. Huge big mistake’.
