A fantasy football manager was forced to pay an embarrassing fine after finishing last in a competition of his friends.

In the popular game, those who struggled are often punished and forced to commit a forfeit at the end of the season.

And Leeds native Zac Evans was forced to have his face plastered on a huge billboard in Manchester after finishing bottom of the 31-team league.

The billboard, which featured a photo of Evans looking somber, also included an apology for a list of the other players in the league.

It read: “I would like to publicly apologize below for my pathetic performance,” before adding: “See you next year guys!”

Leeds’ Zac Evans finished bottom of his 31-team league and had his face put on a billboard

The 30-year-old, who described his FPL season as ‘an absolute catastrophe’, said BBC News: ‘I thought it would be quite fun at the end of the day and that life is a bit boring, so it’s a good talking point for the memory book.

‘It came halfway through the season and there were four of us at the bottom.

“We kind of said, ‘What’s the point of focusing, what’s the point of changing the team?’

‘So we said, ‘let’s make a bet.’

The billboard, which is located in Trafford Park, Manchester, can be seen from Trafford Road on the Victoria Warehouse side.

Throughout the difficult campaign, Evans, a Spurs fan, went by the team name ‘Shock He’s Top FC’.

Explaining why his season went so poorly, he added: ‘I think the boys think it’s funny because of my team name, which I’ve used for three years in a row.

‘There were too many injuries and things got in the way. There are far too many games in the season now and it clouds people’s imaginations and they only give us two wildcards.’

When pressed on his expectations and hopes for next season, Evans remained optimistic as he claimed he was ‘feeling confident’
