Former Strictly Professional Ola Jordan has said Craig Revel Horwood should be sacked and replaced with a new judge with ‘more grit’.

The 42-year-old dancer, who starred in the BBC series from 2006 to 2015, admitted the show is becoming “too fun, fun.”

She explained that Strictly ‘needs an overhaul to keep it attractive to the public’, even if that means replacing the panel.

Speaking in an interview with Mecca BingoOla said: “I feel like Craig has lost his shine. People loved Craig as he was before.

“He would tell it like it is, say he wasn’t good, which was nonsense, but it’s almost like he has to say something positive now.

“He’s clearly been told that they have to be positive and they don’t want any negativity in the show and that comes from the producers, but they have to look at what the audience really wants. It’s too nice, nice.’

The 42-year-old dancer, who starred in the BBC series from 2006 to 2015, admitted the show is becoming ‘too nicey nicey’ (Craig pictured)

She added: “They’re all the same every year, so maybe they need a new judge – someone with a little more spice on the jury. You could even have a different guest judge every week.”

Craig recently admitted that his ‘sharp comments’ from 20 years ago would now be considered ‘bullying’ and he would be banned for saying them today.

Known for his no-nonsense criticism and sharp tongue, the long-standing Strictly star shared that he has softened his judging approach on the entertainment show.

He told it Radio times: ‘I have changed my style of assessment. Twenty years ago I was very hard. When I look back I think, “Ooh, that’s cutting.” It would now be classed as bullying and I would be canceled.”

Revel Horwood, 59, who has been on Strictly since its inception in 2004, is on the panel with Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse and head judge Shirley Ballas.

He said his approach has shifted to a more constructive style, thinking “more like a teacher than a judge.”

The choreographer, who is engaged to horticulturist Jonathan Myring, used to be ‘hard on people who couldn’t dance.’

‘I was very direct. I still say what’s wrong, but you can package the truth in a nice way.’

He added: “I’m not there for their emotions. I don’t care how it affects them because they need to know and respect my opinion.’

His sour reviews of the dance show have led to online trolls sending the judge death threats and abuse.

It comes as The Mail On Sunday revealed that the BBC, in a bid to attract younger viewers, is scripting some of the judges’ comments for the first time.

The move didn’t go down well with the judges, with sources saying they complained the scripted lines were “cringy,” “overproduced” and sometimes “woke.”

Viewers also noticed that Revel Horwood has been less abrasive this series.

A Strictly insider said: ‘The judges feel the comments they have to make feel over-produced. It has been brought up and is starting to cause a problem.”
