Former Proud Boys leader Joe Biggs cries while imprisoned for 17 YEARS on January 6 after begging court not to divorce him from daughter and cancer stricken mother

  • Biggs, Ethan Nordean, Zachary Rehl and Enrique Tarrio were all found guilty of the charges after breaking into the Capitol after the 2020 election

Former Proud Boys leader Joe Biggs wept as he was sentenced to 17 years in prison for his role in the January 6, 2021 riots at the U.S. Capitol.

Biggs, Ethan Nordean, Zachary Rehl and Enrique Tarrio were all found guilty of seditious conspiracy after breaking into the Capitol after the 2020 election.

At his sentencing on Thursday, Biggs’ lawyers argued that he had not attacked anyone because they asked for clemency.

Biggs, from Ormond Beach, Florida, was a self-described Proud Boys organizer, but said he is “not a violent person and I’ve proven it” and was “seduced by the mob.”

He pleaded with the judge and said he wanted to take his daughter to school and be there for his ailing mother.

“My curiosity got the better of me,” he claimed. “I’m not a terrorist…I’m one of the nicest people in the world.”

Judge Timothy Kelly didn’t feel like it, saying Americans are the envy of the world and American elections should be respected. He told Biggs, “You did play a part in inciting the mob.”

“If you don’t like how elections are conducted, you can speak up, call, write or meet election officials. You can participate in peaceful protest. File a lawsuit.”

Former Proud Boys chairman Tarrio, who faces up to 33 years in prison, was due to be sentenced on Wednesday, but the hearing was adjourned after the judge fell ill.

Bigg’s sentence is one of the most severe in the Capitol riot cases, second only to the 18-year sentence for Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes.

Prosecutors had demanded 33 years for Biggs, arguing that he was a “vocal leader and influential supporter of the group’s shift toward political violence.”
