The Countess of Wessex looked elegant when she met the Minister of Health of Malawi in the town of Salima, on the occasion of another leg of her solo journey through Africa.

Sophie 57, who is married to Prince Edward, wore a £157 pink floral dress from ME+EM for the occasion.

It’s her first time wearing it – the royal was spotted watching the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham earlier this year in the ditzy print dress.

She paired the dress with a pair of nude wedges and opted for a practical updo – which would have come in handy in the warm African heat.

The mother of two met with the Member of Parliament the Honorable Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda at the Maganga Clinic in the city of Salima along with specialist surgeon Gladys Ntwana.

The visit to the town focused on the eye clinic practice, and the Countess also met health professionals who help people regain their sight after illness.

She sat on the floor with patients at the clinic, who had undergone trachomatous trichiasis eye surgery — a procedure the clinic specializes in.

Trachomatous trichiasis is a condition in which repeated infections on the inside of the upper lid cause the upper lid to turn inward so that eyelashes scrape over the eyeball and can cause blindness.

Sophie was stunned by her frugal fashion choices during her tour, opting for budget-friendly outfits from Zara and recycling dresses she’s been seen in before.

Today’s visit followed a hotel event where the Countess celebrated the success of surgeons eradicating the eye disease across Malawi.

Yesterday, she attended the reception at the Sunbird Waterfront Hotel to celebrate the country’s success in curbing the infectious disease.

The mother then gave a speech to mark the success of the Trachoma Elimination Program.
