1. Sit in the last row

Sitting in the last row of the plane can be an advantage for several reasons, most commonly because it allows you to be one of the first to sit and leave the plane.

However, being placed in the last row will significantly increase your chances of being moved to first class, according to the flight attendant.

Cierra admitted that the tip sounded “a little weird” and explained that cabin crew usually move passengers on a flight here when they are not full to ensure the weight of the plane is evenly distributed.

She explained the procedure if the flight is less busy, adding: ‘If that is the case, the flight attendants will pick the people in that very last row to go to the front.

‘[This is] so they can sit down [in the seats] after they’ve done their service, because it’s a lot more comfortable to sit in those passenger seats than the jump seats.”

2. Give up your seat

The second method that Cierra claimed worked “99.9 percent” of the time was giving up your seat if you were on an overbooked flight.

Some airlines occasionally rebook their flights in an attempt to recoup the costs of seat cancellations.

But with summer just around the corner, most holidaymakers will be eager to head off to their sunny holiday, meaning cancellations are few and far between.

But if you’re not in a hurry to get to your destination, Cierra says you can use the airline’s misfortune to your advantage.

The flight attendant explained that if you voluntarily give up your seat on an overbooked or full flight, you can negotiate an upgrade to your alternate trip.

She revealed that airlines will initially offer you an airport voucher worth $200 to $500.

However, she revealed step-by-step how to secure your premium first class seat after giving up your previous seat on the full flight.

‘Go to the gate agent first. Second, give them the prize [of your initial flight] and say you want it in cash,” she said.

For the final step, Cierra announced that you must demand that the gate agent place you in first class “to compensate” for your lost time.

A surefire way to ensure you get an upgrade to first class, according to Cierra, is to give up your seat on a busy flight - but you should only do that if you have plenty of time to spare (stock image)

3. Emergency services

The flight attendant’s final tip for getting a free upgrade to the exclusive rows of first class is to inform the crew if you work for the emergency services.

By informing the flight attendants that you are a police officer, nurse or firefighter, they know that you can assist in emergency situations on board.

As a result, they at least inform the team, otherwise they will offer you an upgrade to business or first class.

β€œAt the very least, they put you in an existing row that has a lot more leg room and a lot more room to relax,” Cierra explained.

“But please know that in case of emergency you must help us.”
