I’m an Australian living in London… there are FOUR things I love about the UK

An Australian woman living in London has revealed everything she loves about Britain.

Belle Perez, who has lived in the capital for less than two years, says that despite it being expensive, there are reasons why she can’t get enough of living here.

From the proximity to European countries to ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunities, the TikToker shared all her favorite things about London.

Belle Perez (pictured), who has lived in London for almost two years, reveals the four things she loves about living in Britain

1. Being close to Europe

From Denmark, France and Austria there are several locations across Europe that you can travel to from London in less than two hours.

A stark contrast to Australia, where it takes five hours to fly to New Zealand.

For Belle, proximity to the continent is ‘by far the best’ factor for living in the vibrant city.

With several beautiful destinations and cultures within easy reach, the content creator raved about London’s proximity to several ‘unparalleled’ European countries.

She said: ‘It’s an obvious one, but it’s by far the best draw for living in London because the holidays you can take are simply second to none.’

2. Going away from home

While home is the heart for many, for Belle it was an advantage to leave behind everything she knew.

She explained that moving abroad encouraged her to try new things and create wonderful memories while meeting new people from different backgrounds.

London, especially known by Australians, is a very exciting place to be, because it is impossible to get bored.

‘The people you meet, the memories you make – [there is] so much fun so much to do it’s a big city where you’ll never be bored unless you want to.

She continued, “You go away from home for a few years, try something new and see what you like.”

3. ā€œOnce In A Lifetimeā€ Opportunities

Belle said that as a creative individual there are ā€œso many opportunitiesā€ in the city to explore and experiment with new activities and hobbies.

Belle described living in London as a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity and urged people to step out of their comfort zone.

She added, ā€œIt’s like you can’t do this once in a lifetime, not at every stage of life. Do it while you’re young and you can do it.’

4. The visa process

According to Belle, the visa process to enter Britain was also a big advantage, joking: ‘For Aussies it’s just so easy to get.’

Typically, Australian citizens can stay in Britain for up to six months without a visa if they are conducting academic research, paid assignments or attending conferences or meetings. GOV.UK say.

But if they stay in the country without a visa, they are not allowed to do any form of unpaid or paid work, intern or sell products.

For Australians wanting to work in Britain, there are several visa options available, but some of them require a job offer and a minimum.

Australians with one or more British grandparents can live on the islands by applying for a UK Ancestry Visa.

This means that they do not need a job offer or minimum salary to make the transition to the other world. They can also choose to settle in the country after five years and a successful citizenship application.

Many flooded the comments with questions for the expat, who had already lived in the city for a year at the time.

‘What are your favorite pubs/drinking places in London? I’m going to visit friends in a few days,ā€ asked a curious viewer.

Another asked: ‘What visa do you have? Too bad you can’t get a working holiday visa over the age of 30.’

Others encouraged Belle to stay in the city for a few more years, despite also mentioning several downsides to living in Britain in the clip.

One joked: ‘Stay there for a few more years… you’ll keep earning more, you’ll make more British friends and life just keeps getting better! London earns a good Ā£ is second to none!’

ā€œI grew up here and I agree with everything you said lol,ā€ one user added.
