A six-foot-tall man underwent “excruciatingly painful” $165,000 leg surgery to add two inches to his height after years of struggling to talk to women due to self-doubt about his stature.
Moses Gibson, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, said he had been insecure about his height since he was 15 after seeing other boys his age go through a growth spurt he hadn’t experienced.
The 41-year-old has dealt with unkind comments about his smaller size for years, which he admitted affected his ‘confidence’ and left him with insecurities that seriously affected his dating life.
In a desperate attempt to grow taller, he tried taking medication and even contacted a “spiritual healer” online who insisted they could help him grow.

But after other options failed, Moses finally decided to go under the knife to increase his size.
He’s now had two cosmetic procedures – which cost him a whopping $165,000 – and he’s thrilled with the results.
“I’ve struggled with my height. Even when I was in high school, I was always dissatisfied with my height,” he recently told SWNS.
‘When I was 15 I realized that most of my peers were taller than me. It gradually started to come to me.
“I used to put things in my shoes to gain some height, but it wasn’t much.
“People made comments. Sometimes it wasn’t in a mean way or with the intent to hurt, but then they’d say, “S**t dude, you’re a short man,” or make fun of it.”
While Moses said he’s “strong” and a “tough guy,” he admitted that eventually it all started to dawn on him – so he started “looking” for ways to make himself bigger.
“I just didn’t feel good about myself, I was unhappy about it most of the time.
“It was my confidence in general, and with the ladies — it affected my dating life,” he continued.
“I used to love clothes and shoes, but I started not feeling happy when I put them on and I wanted to look better.
“I bought meds online that promised to give you the height you’re looking for. I took them for a while before I realized it was rubbish and stopped.
“I spoke to a spiritual healer online via email who promised they could heal any problem.”
While in college, he came across a procedure that could increase the length of his legs, and began working overtime so he could save enough money for the surgery.
After three years as a software engineer by day and an Uber driver by night, he went under the knife for the first time in 2016.
The first procedure added two inches to his height during the first procedure, but still unsatisfied, he did it again last month. He is seen after the second operation
When his recovery is complete, he will be five feet tall. His legs are seen for his second surgery
During the operation, doctors broke Moses’ tibia and fibula bones and screwed in magnetic limb-extending nails. He is seen after the second operation

Once he’s done recovering, Moses will stand at five feet.
He now has to use a length extension device three times a day
During the operation, doctors broke Moses’ tibia and fibula bones and screwed in magnetic limb-extending nails.
He now has to use a length extender three times a day – which pulls the cut bones apart millimeter by millimeter.
This encourages his body to create new bone tissue, which will fill the gap until his desired length is reached.
“After the first procedure, I was happy with it to a certain extent, but it was always in my mind that I wanted to do the second one to finish it off,” he explained.
“I’m a high achiever, I’m a go-getter, so after the first one I thought, I’ve got the money and I can finish the trip. I’ll be happy at 5’10.’
Moses admitted that the recovery was “really painful” at times, but said he had to “work through it.”

The 41-year-old added that the surgery took away his insecurities and made him feel much “freer”.
It also gave him the confidence he needed to talk to women, and he now has a girlfriend.
Moses explained: ‘[After the first surgery] I became less hesitant and less concerned about the outcome when I talked to women. I now have a girlfriend.
“I started wearing shorts and taking full body shots, which I never used to do. It’s crazy, no one should feel this way.’
Ultimately, he hopes that sharing his story will inspire others who feel the same way he does.
“I would advise anyone who wants this to go for it, it’s well worth it,” he concluded. “I definitely want to spread the word and if it can help other people go through it then so be it, I’m happy.”
