A movie buff has launched a new movie review website to crack down on left-wing filmmakers and has targeted Disney’s remake of The Little Mermaid.

James Carrick – who describes himself as a ‘passionate movie buff’ [a] degree in theater and philosophy’ – Worth launched it or Woke as a conservative response to films produced by studios that seem to be pushing for more racial and gender diversity in their films.

One such movie, says Carrick, is Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid — a 1989 Disney classic — which he gave a score of 37 out of 100, saying it has “all the charm and fun of the original.” sacrifices’.

It comes after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences introduced rules requiring more diversity, both on screen and in production, to be considered for best picture at the Oscars.

The film’s review on its site reads, “From the creative vacuum that is modern Disney, the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid sacrifices all the charm and fun of the original in the name of personal politics and photo-realistic fishing.” .

The Little Mermaid is a live-action remake of a classic Disney movie of the same name

“It boasts wooden and flat performances, icy pacing, forced and unnatural dialogue, and questionable CGI.”

On the about page, the site promises “real movie and show reviews for real people living in the real world.”

“Don’t rely on the waking crowd to help you find what you want to watch,” the website states.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, he said he judges a movie based on whether its “woke quotient (woketient) is distractingly high, tolerable, or not at all,” with each film calling a “woke,” “woke- ish’ or ‘non-wake’ rating next to a numbered score.

Receiving a similarly scathing review with a slightly higher score of 47 was Peter Pan & Wendy, which starred black actress Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell and introduced women as part of the Lost Boys troupe.

Movies that successfully escaped his wrath include Big George Foreman, a biopic about the former heavyweight boxing champion, which received a “non-wake” rating and a score of 92.

He told the entertainment publication that his website was experiencing “rapid growth” as conservative movie buffs weren’t helped by review sites like Rotten Tomatoes that don’t filter bias.

The disparity between critics’ and audiences’ scores, as well as the relentless accusations of bias by conservative readers, highlight the flaws in the [Rotten Tomatoes] system,” said Carrick.

Reflecting the ‘wokeism’ increasingly permeating the work of filmmakers, many critics reward artificial activism over quality.

“Remember that movies are no longer eligible for Academy Awards if they don’t meet quotas for race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation.”
