Music publisher BMG Rights Management is suing toymaker MGA Entertainment for allegedly parodying the hit.
It centers around a music video featuring animated dancing unicorn dolls excreting glittery slime that is part of the promotion for their Poopsie Slime Surprise toy line.
The plaintiffs, BMG, maintain that My Poops is a copy of the melody, tempo, and chord progression of My Humps, and even features a female vocalist who sounds a lot like Fergie, who performed most of the catchy parts on the original, according to Reuters.
BMG, which claims it owns a 75 percent copyright to My Humps, claims the toy line has brought MGA Entertainment tens of millions of dollars in profit, largely due to the promotional video featuring My Poops, that has been published without your permission.
The publisher is asking the court for at least $10 million in damages.
My Humps was a huge hit for the Black Eyed Peas, reaching number three on the Hot 100 in November 2005 and eventually winning Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 49th Annual Music Awards. Grammy awards.
