Chelsea full-back Malo Gusto can consider himself incredibly lucky after only being shown a yellow card for a heavy challenge on Willian during Saturday’s Premier League match.
Gusto made some light contact with the ball, but then made solid contact with Willian’s shin as he charged in with his studs up.
On replays it looked awful and viewers couldn’t believe the Frenchman stayed on the pitch.
It was the kind of challenge we’ve seen red wines given many times this season, even though Gusto had already been given one himself.
And fans quickly took to social media to address the lack of consistency.

One tweeted: ‘There’s just no consistency, overall I wouldn’t want this to be red. But it’s definitely red by the standards we’ve seen this season.”
Many pointed to the firing of Curtis Jones earlier this season for a very similar challenge.
One fan wrote: ‘I need someone to tell me the difference between these two tackles that got Gusto booked and Jones red.
‘You can’t. The consistency in this league is absolutely terrible.”
Another wrote: ‘That Gusto challenge is 100% worse than what Curtis Jones got sent off for. The consistency is this league.”
