Fans react with horror to Britney Spears’ meltdown amid new fears for her safety

Britney Spears was the topic of discussion online on Thursday after she made headlines when she was taken from the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles by ambulance amid fears she was experiencing a “mental health crisis.”

The Grammy-winning singer, 42, was seen wrapped in a blanket and holding a pillow on Wednesday, looking disheveled as first responders helped her leave the Hollywood hub where comedian John Belushi infamously overdosed in 1982.

A number of social media users have expressed serious concerns for the pop star’s well-being during the latest events.

One fan said on Twitter/X that the pop star was “probably spiraling” amid an episode of mental illness, adding, “I honestly don’t see this ending very well.”

The fan said they believed the Oops!… I Did It Again artist returned to performing too soon after dealing with a series of disturbing events more than 15 years ago; was not treated well in the years that followed; and did not have the infrastructure in her personal life to handle a similar turn of events this time.

“Honestly, she probably should have never performed again after her initial breakdown in 2008, or at least taken a few years off to get intensive therapy,” the fan said. “Just giving her pills and restrictions was a band-aid and now she has no support system.”

Another fan said they “just want to know if Britney Spears is okay,” adding, “I don’t know anymore.”

One fan called it a “BAD idea to end the conservatorship” she lived under from 2008-2021, adding, “At least she was protected then.”

The fan praised the efforts of Britney’s father Jamie Spears during the controversial series of events surrounding the conservatorship, saying that “her father was and is the only one who really cared.”

The user also condemned the efforts of the Free Britney movement, saying the public “may be watching the end of the embattled singer.”
